We bought some property in Smith River just across the Oregon/California border and were up from SoCal to check out the area. Brookings seems like a nice clean town with some good restaurants and some beautiful scenic areas. The people seem friendly.

We also had spectacular weather during the day - clear, sunny. The state parks in the area are quite nice and... More

Stick to the beach, try the several choices of beaches in the area. Be Very selective in dining choices; avoid Fred Meyer at all costs. The Brookings Harbor beach is very accessible and a good place for an easy beach walk.

Had a good campsite, good grocery stores, good thai food, saw a movie in a tiny little theatre, great little city that has all the amenities you would ever need.
