The Pelican Bay Lighthouse is not very far from the Best Western Plus Hotel in Brookings, Oregon. What a charming lighthouse. We could walk right to it from the hotel. Really neat place for taking pictures. Lovely area. Friendly people. Brookings, Oregon.

We have been taking pictures of all the lighthouses along the Oregon Coast and have to say, Pelican Bay is truly unique. It is also a private home, like Cleft in the Rock near Yachats, and not open to the public most of the time. The building sits on a high bluff, overlooking Boat Basin Drive in Harbor (as in... More

I liked the fact that it was privately owned, that is so cool! The history was neat, as Bill Cady grew up in Lighthouses so his desire was to build this one. It is the newest Lighthouse on the West Coast.

The views of this lighthouse are okay, but not as spectacular as other lighthouses along the coast (especially Haceta Head lighthouse just north of Florence).

Since this is a private home and we respect their privacy you need to be creative when taking your pictures of the exterior. I was told the owner does open the home a few times a year for fund raisers. I took the customary view from the parking lot below the lighthouse and then went up to the third floor... More

Wish we had paid more attention to the description. It is actually someone's home. They do open it up on occasion, but unless it is open for an event, you can only view it from afar. Get a local paper to find out when they are having an event. Would have rated it higher had it been an actual attraction.

We enjoy the old Pelican Bay Light house, never been before. the best part is being able to see far out to see the boats and meeting people who care for the Light House. We will won't to stop again when we pass through Crescent City, CA

This is a beautiful lighthouse home that you can see very clearly from sporthaven beach area. The owner does do tours occassionaly via fund raisers such as Habit for Humanity. However, it is rare. Sporthave is a beautiful beach connected to the harbor. Sebastians is a great restaurant down there across from Best Western. Feley's is the best hamburger in... More

Visiting here and watching the pelicans wheel and dive into the Bay was one of the highlights of our recent vacation in Brookings. We liked it so much that we returned several times. It's a great place to slow down and breathe, and be amazed by nature's beauty. Sometimes the fog can be quite thick, but even so this place... More
