My wife and I drove up Pilot Butte to take in the sunset one evening. That was one nice view of the city of Bend to the west with the Cascade Peaks in the background. You can see Smith Rock to the north. To the south, you can see Lava Butte and Paulina Peak. To the east, you can see... More

it is a great way to see all of bend and cascade mt. range. It is a mile up and you can take the trail or cement rd.. It is good for people wanting to get a quick intense walk with dogs or strollers.

A short trip but well worth the time. The road was closed so we walked it and it was good exercise and great views

Literally across from a Whole Foods, sits this extinct volcano, rising over 530 above beautiful Bend. It's a wonderful and easy hike up to one of the most striking panoramic views I've ever beheld (and I travel a LOT). Get good directions for the path, though, as we didn't and had to make like mountain goats the first time. A... More

Within Bend city limits this one mile paved hike is quite a well known busy place. You can see to Mt. Hood, the Ochocos, the Three Sisters, Mt. Bachelor & even Diamond Head

This is a place to go for great food at a reasonable price. My family and I have been going there for years and the food is always delicious, never had a bad meal. Not a lot of space so sometimes you may have to wait to get a table, but always worth the wait!

Hey, I'm a local, a Bendite. I even went to the two schools at the base of Pilot Butte. Here's the deal, everyone drives to the top of the butte for the view and you should too. Here's the only thing you need to know, the road is not open year-round. In the winter you'll have to take the trail... More

The hike is a slow incline so just about any one can make it to the top. It might take quite a bit longer than the "fastest to the top" records posted at the base of the hike, but even our two year old made it to the top. There is a nice view and lots of seating if you... More
