Another great attraction in Bend. You can't miss the Butte as it is pretty apparent from all over town. When you take the entrance, just drive up the road ... or walk it as I did. It's about a mile up as you go round the Butte gradually climbing to the peak. At the top, there's a gender neutral bathroom... More

We elected to drive up with my elderly mother accompanying us. We spent a good 20 minutes or more taking in all the views and then photo ops, including ourselves. Don't miss this opportunity when visiting Bend.

We always take our guests to the top of Pilot Butte. The view is spectacular. It is a great way to see all of Bend and on a clear day you can see so many of the huge mountains in the Cascades.

Don't be a weeny and drive up - hike it! The 360° view of the Cascades is superb. Sunrise is the best time.

Just a few minutes from Downtown Bend Pilot Butte was a quick drive and beautiful place to view the sunset. There is a marker in the middle with all the mountains and buttes marked. The night we went there were also traditional Native American dancers playing the drums and dancing, so it was quite a special evening. You can walk... More

Pilot Butte State Park rests in the Eastern part of town and provides a 480' 360 view of the area. The views of the Cascades (Three Sisters, Bachelor, Broken Top and Jefferson) are amazon and a perfect reward for a short huffer-puffer of a hike (1 mile) to the top. Unless you have physical disability, please don't drive to the... More

If you are capable, hike up, don't drive. There's a nice trail and the views are that much better if you earned it!

So we drove to the top of Pilot Butte, but passed a LOT of people who were either walking or biking up. It was about 95 deg and midday,we thought it was a bit hot for either! The view is spectacular and well placed identifiers at the top made picking out the landmarks and mountains easy. Great photo op and good... More

Every mountain within view nicely labeled with distance from the butte. Paved road to the top open during summer. Nice trails to take as well.

There is a black top road to the top of Pilot butte along with a trail from the bottom for those people that want to exercise their legs for a while. On top there is a 4 foot disk on a cement pedestal. The disk has a map of all the surrounding mountains and a line carved to each mountain... More
