Beautiful monument at the top points out many of the peaks in the Casades and the buttes surrounding it. You will miss out on Mt Hood and Mt Jefferson if the day is all hazy. Closed to driving top the top on weekends.

For those who have difficulty walking, the drive to the top is made to order - just enough exposure to heights at the edge of the road to get the blood pumping while the top itself provides excellent panoramic views. People who want to get a little exercise can really get the blood pumping by hiking up to the top... More

The drive up is scary because you are on the outer side of a road with steep drop-offs. The ride down is bnetter because you are on the inside against the hill. The road spirals up the butte to the top. We parked on the road at the top and you can see a 360 degree view of Bend and... More

Pilot Butte is in the city limits. Hike is very nice. Easy and well maintained trails circling the butte to the top. Great 360 degree view with markers identifying the mountains and buttes you see from there. Other then in the winter, you can drive up to the top of the butte. A gem of Bend.

It's a good workout walking either the base trail or hiking to the top of Pilot Butte. I recommend walking to the top either on the dirt trail or the paved road. Once on top, you'll enjoy magnificent views of Central Oregon and from different vantage points. This spot is a must for people who like to walk or hike... More

Just east of downtown. Drive up to the top of the butte. Actually, many more people were walking or jogging up than driving. Great 360 degree views all around. Several exhibits up top describing the mountains/areas you were looking at. Good views of the city as well. Couple minutes to drive up and maybe 10 minutes up top.

Good hike to get the blood flowing. The reward at the top is a great view of Bend and the surrounding area. Great place to be as the sun sets, or rises.
