One mile walk up to the top is OK, particularly if you use the trail and not the road. Good views from the top, but then again since we live here there are more spectacular views around. More

You can walk the road or hike a trail. Very popular. Great views of Bend and surrounding mountains from the top. Advisable to carry water and wear good shoes. More

The Butte is the highest volcano in town. A road circles around it to the top. There is a 360° view, and the view of the nearby mountains is something to behold. We are talking about many mountains, and most are covered in snow, most of the year. It's nothing more than a lookout, with plenty of parking, but worth... More

The name gives a hint to its purpose for early travelers on the Oregon Trail. Pilot Butte is high enough and because of it's distinctive shape it can be identified for miles in any direction. Early settlers used Pilot Butte as a guide to the most favorable crossing of the Deschutes River en route to the Willamette Valley. That crossing... More

You can drive, but hike it if you want to get a quick workout in with a great view and 2 min drive from downtown. From the top you can see every mountain peak on a clear day and read little facts about each peak if you want to know what you're looking at. More

This is an easy hike and provides amazing views of the city and surrounding areas. This something good to see when in Bend, doesn't take much time and you can drive to the top at certain times of the year. More

This place is so beautiful, especially in the mornings. You can see all of Bend from the top and it's definitely worth the drive up. More

Out of the blue my sons and I decided to walk up it. We've driven up, but this time walked. They close to road in winter to cars-but it's still open for bikers and walkers. More
