This is a hike right in Bend with views of the city and the mountains. You can drive up, hike the road, or hike the nature trail. We did the nature trail which was far more scenic. The book said easy hike, we thought it was more moderate, but there are lots of benches along the way to enjoy if... More

The west side location has much friendlier staff...but I like the seating and firepit at the east side location.

This is one of many cinder cones in central Oregon, but it happens to be right in the city of Bend. You can either walk or drive to the top. From the top there is a great view of all the surrounding volcanoes. Be sure to go to the very center of the plaza, where there is a little monument... More

If you want a to see All of Bend, Mt Batchler, Mt Jefferson and Mt hood, either drive up to the top or walk the paths. Beautiful Panama Views. Some days there is a Ranger on duty to assist you. There are even WC there.

I've been here several times. Yesterday when I went up the sky was totally clear. One one side you could, clearly, see the Cascade Range. Mt Bachelor, Broken Top, Three Susters, Three Fingered Jack, Jefferson. Looking East the high desert in all it's glory. I was able to take some great pictures. Check the weather though to make sure it's... More

Any trip to Bend should include a trip to the top of Pilot Butte. This is a great place to get a sense of what the area of and around Bend is like. You can hike to the top (pretty steep climb on the road), or drive, but parking, including handicapped, is limited. (Note, road is closed to autos during... More

Any first time visit to Bend requires a ride or hike to the top of Pilot Butte. Located in the heart of town with a full 360 degree panoramic view of the city it's not to be beat. Super bonus points? We shoot our 4th of July fireworks from the top each year!

My wife and I drove up Pilot Butte to take in the sunset one evening. That was one nice view of the city of Bend to the west with the Cascade Peaks in the background. You can see Smith Rock to the north. To the south, you can see Lava Butte and Paulina Peak. To the east, you can see... More

it is a great way to see all of bend and cascade mt. range. It is a mile up and you can take the trail or cement rd.. It is good for people wanting to get a quick intense walk with dogs or strollers.
