Beautiful location. Road in to the day parking is a bit rough, but doable. Lake was very low, but still worth the trip. They have paved trails, I just walked around the eastern side of the lake. There was no trail, but I guess that was part of the attraction?

Beautiful place! I could give it a lower rating because the water level was so low, but our guide with Wanderlust tours showed us the whirlpool where a lava tube drains the water from the lake slowly, and he told us because the water level is so low right now, it's the only time he's ever actually seen it!! Which... More

Read in my Photograph Oregon book about this location. It is an easy walk from the parking area to the location to get a great reflection picture.

We took a friend out to Sparks Lake late in the afternoon to take some photographs using her new lens. I don't use a wheel chair nor have I pushed anyone in a wheel chair in a long, long time but I think someone who uses a wheel chair just might be able to use the trail to the left... More

I visited there on July 3 with friends, and was stunned by the amazing beauty and scenery of the lake and its photogenic surroundings! It is located a couple miles off the main paved highway on a not well maintained gravel road. There is a paved and easily walked trail around a portion of the lake which offers great photographic... This a great spot to visit on the Cascade Lakes Loop, not far from Mt Bachelor. Excellent views of Broken Top South Sisters and Mt Bachelor on the trails, as well as the lake and interesting lava formations. Well worth a visit (or a picnic).

Maximum speed is 10 mph which virtually eliminates all power boats. Very relaxing and scenic lake! Many sandy beaches for picnicking or swimming. Lake is very shallow in most places; usually not more than three feet deep.

Sparks Lake was breathtaking. There is an easy hike around the lake and so many picture perfect moments along the way. Definitely one of the highlights of our trip to Bend.
