Park at the trailhead, easy 2.5 mile hike that starts in a forested area with lots of interesting lava flow features. Eventually moves to lake area. Start out to the left and views coming back are better. Would have loved to had the ability to kayak.

Sparks Lake is just past Mt Bachelor as you head away from Bend, Oregon. It has really neat views of snow covered mountains and has beautiful wild flowers along the shore line. My wife and I along with another couple went on a canoe ride late in the afternoon. We paddle about a mile or so and saw four deer... More

Beautiful place to paddle. No motors, so quiet and no wakes. Interesting landscapes and coves to explore. Weekends are VERY busy, so try to go during the week.

Wow. We had limited time for a morning hike. This is more like a walk, but the views blew us away. Crystal lake, spectacular snow-covered peaks, uncrowned trails. Only 35 mins drive from bend, so a great respite when you have limited time. We will return!

This lake is perfect for kayaking and canoeing early in the summer, but the water level gets remarkably lower as the year progresses. The views of the mountain from this lake are incredible - like you could reach out and touch them! The water is pretty clear for swimming, but where we were there were tons and tons of sharp... More

Wonderful views, great playground for canoes and floatables...Sparks lake (boatramp and trail side) is an amazing place tucked away behind Mt. Bachelor and has views of South Sister and Broken Top. I fell in love! Would I go back? You betcha

We have just returned from our canoe trip at Sparks Lake. Truly a beautiful spot and a nice flatwater paddle. We camped near the boat launch and that night there was some sort of party happening, with cars on both sides of the road making it difficult to get past to the boat launch. Then around midnight a thunder storm... More

We love this lake because it has an ADA trail with a beautiful view of several Cascade peaks. This allows our paraplegic son access to the forest which he loved to do prior to his accident. We as a family need to work towards creating more such trails in Oregon.

I kayaked here with my 11-year-old son in June 2014. It was absolutely stunning. Some tips: Directions: Go to the first big lake just west (maybe 5 miles?) of Mt Bachelor. Follow sign to boat launch. Remember to bring cash for the iron ranger. When we were there it was $5. There is no store near here. Bring everything you... More

If you are a kayak, canoe or SUP this place is surely heaven for you. Shallow, sand bottom with crystal clear water. For us hikers, the going is easy for priceless views. There were sections of the trail that were covered with blow downs seasons old, leaving a lot of guessing on whether you were actually on the trail or... More
