I had passed the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum several times traveling to and from Arizona. I always took a pass on stopping as it struck me as to “touristy.” This time I did with the intent of a quick look which turned to several hours. The exhibits are fantastic: paintings, Remington sculptures, old black and white photos and... more

Honestly one of the best museums that I have ever been to. We have children ages 5, 7 and 9 and grandma came along too. Great value - $37 for all six of us. The kids enjoyed seeing the Prix de West exhibit and the childrens' exhibits were fabulous. Camera use is limited, but the gardens and outdoor sculptures are... more

They have really gone to no expense to make this museum a wonderful place to review some of our heritage and cowboy folklore. The price was so cheap to visit and well worth your time. more

My husband and I arrived too late in the afternoon to look at much, but it looked great from the parts we did see. Seemed like a huge museum with outdoor parts as well. Security was dressed in western attire. Lots of paintings, a rodeo history section, and a part with John Wayne memorabilia. We would love to go back... more

This was a great place to visit. The price wasn't too expensive and the staff was very friendly. I found I spent several hours here and it seemed to pass by in a blink. I was pleasantly surprised by the western town inside building-a great treat for adults and children. more

This museum was great. The exhibits and hands on stuff for kids was of a high standard. Volunteer guides are on hand to answer your questions which were very helpful. The restaurant food was delicious too and be prepared for the gift shop.... it is cowboytastic! Our kids gave it a thumbs up. more

My husband and I arrived here with the expectation it would interest us for 2, maybe 3 hours maximum but we were totally unprepared for this place! There is so much to see and take in. The paintings and art work in the Atherton section in particular were outstanding. Neither of us would typically spend much time in an art... more

This museum is a must-see! Apart from the hughe collection of western inspired art it is an extensive an in-depth trip into the western heritage and not least the life of the cowboys. And it's all presented in a very inspiring way that literally drags you through the exposition. Never knew there were that many kinds of hats, boots, guns... more

Truthfully, I can’t think of a reason you would go to OKC unless it’s for work or perhaps your team is playing the Oklahoma Sooners. If you ‘by chance’ the area, I recommend taking a side trip to the NCWHM. From Western/Cowboy inspired artwork to exhibits of anything and everything that is associated with the old west this museum has... more
