Campground on Large Lake about 20 minutes south of Norman, OK. There are very few campgrounds for RV travelers in the OKC area. This one has electric/water hookups and the sites are big rig friendly and partly shaded. DO NOT stay near the waterfront on the Alameda Road side of the lake. I have NEVER seen such trash. The highway... More

The park rangers are out of control. Me and husband and a few friends were at the lake having a good time. We were drinking and decided to go out into the water, we were all talking and having a good time, when the ranger pulled up yelled at us at the top of his lungs to get out. We... More

The place is clean and blue! No anything like the Alameda side. We rented the Pavillion for a family get-together and it was great. An awesome beach and lots of beautiful campsites. I would totally recommend this side of the lake as it is much cleaner and the rv and tent sites are perfect!

Locals call this lake "Dirtybird" due the the brown water, but in reality, there is quit a bit of good camping and picnic area with plenty of shade, tables, parking, and great lakeside locations. It is good lake for waterskiing or reunions, with a few reservable, covered shelters.

We went camping at the Rose Rock, Clear Bay Area on 4th July weekend. It was packed. We almost did not get a spot, thanks to the friendly host family to get our attention. FYI, reserve a spot from their website. The bathroom in Rose Rock is ok. The cleaning staff came by every day to clean this old facility.... More

Lake Thunderbird was created in the 1960s to give the citizens of Norman tap water. One of its kinder nicknames is "Lake Dirtybird," as the murky water makes it impossible to see anything beneath the surface. Rumors abound as to what or whom may have been deposited in the lake over the past 52 years of its existence. My parents... More

Nicely laid out and maintained trail system for mountain biking. While at Lake Thunderbird Park it is called the Clear Bay Area Trail System. Eighteen miles of single track, something for everybody, (well almost - no white knuckle technical stuff). Overall I rate it from beginner loops to intermediate level loops with some fast rolling sections and a surprise steep... More

The day was lovely, the weather was nice, water was warm enough for kids to be playing in the water, and a few boaters in the water as well.

I was born and raise at this lake. It is not what it used to be when I was younger. Yes the water is red, we are in Oklahoma after all, but the place is a beautiful place. I visit there often with my husband, children and friends. We fish, swim, picnic and go out on the boat at this... More
