A Big Surprise!

We had no idea Medicine Bluff existed. We loved it. We didn't care that it took a half hour to drive there. It is a part of United States history and we respect that totally.

Majestic and considered holy by Native Americans, Medicine Bluff is a fissure which rose out of Medicine Creek.

Part of the area around Ft Sill includes Ft Sill Museum the old fort itself including the jail cell where Geronimo was held captive. Supposed to have been one of the most feared Indian Chiefs. Medellin park is near by and a good place to cool off from the hot Oklahoma sun.

I made the drive to this because of the historical significance but was somewhat disappointed. Maybe it was there, but I could not find the proper place to park and observe it or any interpretive information about it. If you want to see a bit more of the Fort besides the historical area, it is a good way to do... More

Pretty spot on the Ft. Sill military reservation, definite point of interest for the history buff. We were surprised to find a small zoo of native wildlife. Did not rate it any higher because while it is an interesting site, it doesn't take more than 30 minutes or so to see it all, and there are more spectacular sites in... More

Stopped there on a cold winter day. Awesome site. Big part of Western history. Very interesting geology in this part of Oklahoma.

I've repelled off of this Bluff. I don't think it's allowed anymore but just to see the cliff from below is amazing. Previous review was spot on about it not being maintained so be careful. Also Geronimo's grave is not far from this site and is in a pretty amazing old cementary. You must stop in if you are this... More

We were in the Army at Ft. Sill and lived in Lawton for 7 years. There is so much to do in this area: Wildlife Refuge, Lake Lawtonka, the museums on Ft. Sill, the tar pits, the bluffs. Very fun and affordable.
