The Historic Tour begins at the site of discovery and includes the part that was originally explored from 1897 to 1925. The Natural Wonder Tour takes guests on a 1 mile walk through parts discovered after 1925. It includes the largest stalactite in Ohio, The Crystal King, along with many other marvelous formations and colors. Only one tour is offered from November through March. It is a hybrid tour, showing guests highlights from both the Natural Wonder and Historic tours. « less

Great day trip for kiddies and older folks, alike. Pretty amazing, especially when you hear the facts behind the cave system and how long it takes the features to develop. Nice tour - about an hour or so, so would be a great stop over on your way to somewhere else, too. Lots of green space, so pack a picnic... More

I first visited Ohio Caverns on a school field trip when I was 7 years old, in 1982. At the time I thought it was the most amazing thing I'd ever seen, and I have carried those fond memories into adulthood. Well, I finally made it back to Ohio Caverns last month, and while my three kids enjoyed it immensely,... More

Very pretty & cool (54 degrees year round) for a hot August day. Nice scenery & friendly staff. Worse thing was the many, many as in a whole lot of steps at the end of the tour. I have bad knees but I know they did have a handicap tour too. I should have chose that.

First, please note that there is a lot of walking. Depending on which tour it could be .75 miles or 1.5 miles or combined if you take both tours. But...plenty of easy walking and lots of stopping for the tour guide chatting. It is underground but a constant 54 comfortable temperature. I am claustrophobic and did real good. Not confining... For about the same price ($12 vs. $15) as the "regular" tour, my wife was excited to be able to try one of these cavern tours. They claimed the tour would be about 25 minutes. I would estimate that this time includes about 10 minutes walking down to the cavern and discussing the history and local farms AND the 5... More

Hello Mark, We take all comments seriously and will have some discussion and training about several of the specifics that you mention. The “regular tour” that you refer to, is called the Natural Wonder tour. It highlights the biggest and best parts of the cavern. The Limestone tour is the only area of the cavern accessible to wheelchairs and scooters.... More

This is a privately owned cavern. The grounds are exceptionally well manicured & lovely, with rolling green lawns, flowers, large trees, picnic tables & shelters, & a mediocre playground. The drive there is quintessential beautiful Ohio countryside, with enormous, lush swaths of green farmland, horses, cows, and pretty barns. The view from anywhere in the park is really pretty. Distant... More

I decided to do a day with my 7 year old daughter for a day to do some sightseeing. I've lived in Columbus for over 6 years and had no idea that Ohio Caverns was just 45 minutes away. It was an easy drive from Columbus, and although I'd seen the photos, I had no real idea what to expect.... More

More than 50 years ago, my parents brought me here as a young child. I wondered if I had an exaggerated memory of the beautiful white stalagmites and stalactites in the cavern. I am happy to say that it is just as wondrous as I recalled. My cousin and I took both the Historic tour and the Natural Wonders tour,... More

First time in a cavern. The property is privately owned and very well-maintained. The drive form the East (coming from Columbus) is comfortable and picturesque. Beautiful country roads on US-33. We just did the natural wonder tour (not the historical one). Its about 45 minutes through the caverns. Can't touch anything on the way (which I think is very appropriate... More

Although we live in Bellefontaine, we often forget about the amazing things we can do as a family just a few miles away! We visited the caverns on 7-29 and had a great time! Awesome guides and they made the tour fun and had lots of great information. Seeing the awesome colors and formations never gets old! Thank you to... More
