Owner description: Ohio's largest and most beautiful cavern. Tours take guests through two different parts of the cavern. The Historic Tour begins at the site of discovery and includes the part that was originally explored from 1897 to 1925. The Natural Wonder Tour takes guests on a 1 mile walk through parts discovered after 1925. It includes the largest stalactite in Ohio, The Crystal King, along with many other marvelous formations and colors. Only one tour is offered from November through March. It is a hybrid tour, showing guests highlights from both the Natural Wonder and Historic tours.

Tour was great. $15 per person. $9 for kids. I apologize to people on my tour for the crying my little one did at the end of the tour. Having went to many other caves- even mammoth- this one has the awesome formations that the others lack. It was an easy walk as well. They take a picture at the... More

Thank you for your visit and for your review. We are fortunate to have such a lovely, well decorated cavern. The photos that we take in the cavern are available for purchase ($10) in the gift shop after your tour. Sorry you didn't see yours. We apologize for being sold out of our emerald gem bags. They are our best... More

My son and I usually go every year since he was 9. He is now 24 and we still go. It's a beautiful drive to get to the caverns. We take the tour which takes about an hour. So nice to do on a hot day. They have a nice gift shop and some activities for the smaller people (kids).... More

We stopped at the Ohio Caverns on our way home from a biking trip on the Little Miami Scenic Trail. The tour guide was knowledgeable and entertaining. Was this the most spectacular caverns we have ever seen -- well no, but anytime you can see something that nature has taken years to create, well that's not all bad. We did... More

We enjoyed the cavern very much, but was pretty far off the beaten path for an hour visit. Was too much driving for my 13 year old for such a short visit.

Thank you for your review. We are glad that you came for a visit. The rural setting around the cavern property adds to the scenic views. Frankly, from a business standpoint, we wish that we were closer to the major cities and freeways. The cavern is not "movable", so we are banished to a rolling hill of the Bellefontaine outlier,... in 1991 we visited this site and were disappointed that the original caverns were closed. This time we got to tour the original cavern trail as it has been reopened. This was an excellent history lesson and experience for our teenagers and we also enjoyed the gift shop. A word of warning, anyone tall watch out for a step down... More

Thank you for returning to visit the historic tour. It is open from May 1st until September 30th. We are sorry that you hit your head and glad that you not injured. The guides should point out the low ceiling spots. We will work on this aspect of tour safety. We hope that you can plan a return trip soon! More

Great day trip for kiddies and older folks, alike. Pretty amazing, especially when you hear the facts behind the cave system and how long it takes the features to develop. Nice tour - about an hour or so, so would be a great stop over on your way to somewhere else, too. Lots of green space, so pack a picnic... More

I first visited Ohio Caverns on a school field trip when I was 7 years old, in 1982. At the time I thought it was the most amazing thing I'd ever seen, and I have carried those fond memories into adulthood. Well, I finally made it back to Ohio Caverns last month, and while my three kids enjoyed it immensely,... More

Thank you for your review and your return visit. We are the largest and most beautiful cavern in Ohio. It's amazing that as we get older, we add to our life experiences and some of the things that were so wondrous fade as we get older. One of the most fun things about guiding tours through the Ohio caverns, is... More

Very pretty & cool (54 degrees year round) for a hot August day. Nice scenery & friendly staff. Worse thing was the many, many as in a whole lot of steps at the end of the tour. I have bad knees but I know they did have a handicap tour too. I should have chose that.

Thank you for your nice review. We do have stairs to negotiate on both the natural wonder tour (60 steps up) and the historic tour (44 steps down, 38 steps up). Thanks also for mentioning our handicapped accessible tour called the Limestone tour. It is short, about 25 minutes, but has no steps at all. The limestone tour is offered... More

First, please note that there is a lot of walking. Depending on which tour it could be .75 miles or 1.5 miles or combined if you take both tours. But...plenty of easy walking and lots of stopping for the tour guide chatting. It is underground but a constant 54 comfortable temperature. I am claustrophobic and did real good. Not confining... Thank you for your kind review. Many people suffer with various levels of claustrophobia. We are glad that you enjoyed the tours despite this. Caves and caverns are not for everyone, but we are one of the easiest to tour in the eastern US. We hope that you come back for a repeat visit soon! More
