This is a island must see. The elevator was a little intimidating for me as I am claustrophobic and got in back with a lot of people. However, once we got to the top it was well worth it. Not only is it a great history piece to learn about but the view is breathtaking. You can see all the... More

I have visited this monument for over 50 years and it is still great. The last several times it was closed for renovations so we were thrilled to take the 37 steps to the elevator and up to the top again. Of course our Senior Pass for the National Parks was honored so the trip was free - others pay... More

Great place to see the bay- always activities on the green in the summer. Reenactors, kite flying or just enjoy a picnic!

We happened to visit on the anniversary of Perry's birthday, August 23, 1785. He also died on his 34th birthday in 1819 from yellow fever he contracted while in Venezuela. In honor of his birthday there were even more re-enactors than usual, doing cannon and historic weapon firings. This year is also the 100th anniversary of the monument and the... More

This was definitely worth 3 buck to go to the top! We went on a day with hardly a cloud in the sky. We could see all the islands and even the edge of the Canadian islands!

We went up to the top of the monument on a very clear day. The National Parks employees were cheerful, informative, and helpful. We learned about the Battle of Lake Erie, the surrounding area, the islands, and the border between Canada and the United States. We also saw some beautiful scenery. We were impressed with the fact that Pelee Island,... More

A must go place, amazing view!! On the top of the tower, you can see all islands around such as middle bass and north bass. You are also able to see Canada side. Loved the staff, very friendly and knowledgeable. Explained everything you need to know about the history and why it's a victory as well as a peace place.

National Park Rangers on location to answer questions. The view is spectacular. There are about 35 steps to get to the elevator. Afterwards, or before, you can walk to the visitors center to see a movie about the importance of this island in history.

This is the third tallest structure in the National Park system, shorter only than the Gateway arch and the Washington Monument. There are 20 some odd steps to the operator run elevator. It costs $3 to go up unless you have a Senior Citizen Lifetime Membership card, in which case it's free. The view from the top is spectacular! Absolutely,... More

They offer a tour inside, but I'm not a fan of heights. The history of the monument is interesting. It's worth stopping and checking it out.
