We have been trying for weeks to get ODNR and their contractor to repair the reservation system so we could re-stay in a specific spot in the campground. By the time the ODNR and its contractor go aound to fixing this, the spot was reserved by another party. Never mind that we had been trying to reserve this spot for... More

My family and I have been here numerous times. My first trip to Shawnee, was when I was only 2 years old. Needless to say, I don't remember much about that vacation. My husband grew up in the Portsmouth area. We took our first trip to Shawnee very early in our relationship. I fell in love with the scenery! There... More

Love the cabins and the lodge. Huge outdoor pool; great indoor pool. Disliked that they are no longer providing bars of soap in cabins.

This is nice restaurant with one of the most scenic views I've seen in any restaurant! We were there the second weekend of October for the fall color, and it was spectacular! The food was good, I had a Rueben sandwich, my wife had fish. Both were very tasty and well prepared. The soup of the day was vegetable beef,... More

Thoroughly impressed with the accomodations and the overall cleanliness of the park. Beautiful scenery and very peaceful. We hiked, canoed, fished, sat by the fire, and just enjoyed the woods. This park has alot to offer and the staff were most courteous. Food was very good as well.

Shawnee is another jewel in the state park system. We had a very nice, level campsite and enjoyed the quiet only interrupted by the birds twittering away. TV service is limited to PBS. We were fortunate to see a program about Portsmouth and it's beautiful murals. We decided to come back to see them while once again exploring the area.... More

I'm always a bit apprehensive when my wife suggests a weekend getaway with some of her friends AND the children...but this resort made it time well spent. Stayed in the lodge, with a discount for booking a two night stay. Our children 3 1/2 and 1 1/2 years old had a great time. Outdoor pool with a bar for easy... More

Stayed in the cabins in July 2014-- we had two cabins split among multiple family members. The cabins have been redone in recent years, with upgrades including fireplaces, cable tv in the bedrooms, and a small fire pit outside of each cabin. We were a bit amused in the room with the bunk beds at the placement of the TV--... More
