The Mentor Marsh is a great place if you want to walk into nature. If you start at the Sweet's house, there is a map on a board showing the different trails maintained by not only the Cleveland Natural History Museum but also, Mentor City and ODNR. I am not sure how to explain this place, its an old house filled with very old nature items and a very small walking path that goes nowhere. People tend to flock to check it out but I have not found it to be worth it.

It was the off season for bird watching. I was disappointed we didn't see more birds. We did see a young deer in the meadow. Wear insect repellant. The mosquitos are biting.

You may have to use your GPS or a map to get to but this vest pocket nature center but it is well worth the visit. In spring and fall the marsh is especially interesting. This is a good place to bring your camera.

if you haven't explored your local areas for treats like this then you are really missing out! a great day trip for couples, friends or family!

I had the wonderful opportunity to visit the Mentor Marsh and the Nature Center a few days ago. After exploring the nature Center filled with specimens of birds and other wildlife I followed a trail into the woods. I arrived at a few ponds loaded with Spring Peepers and Spotted Salamanders.
