A serene place to take a walk while the lake is frozen

I guess that I didn't realize the lake would freeze. Duh!! Well it was in the 40s and a lovely opportunity to walk on the beach and I was not alone. Others sauntered and... read more

This beautiful mile plus long beach is amazing. Every time I stop here when I am in the area for business. You can park near the beach, they have a quaint lighthouse and it is a safe area to view the beach. There are always people around enjoying this great place. I would recommend this if you are just passing... More

I spend all my days off here no matter what the weather is. Great place to relax and have a few thoughts to yourself. There's just a feeling that comes along with when its foggy and rainy down at the lake. It's beautiful when frozen and when the sun is shining down. Not sure I'm ever going to find another... More

The lake was frozen; the windblown sand and ice made gorgeous frozen cliffs to run on. The sunset was amazing reflected on the melting pools. The lighthouse was framed by the frozen cliffs and beautiful sky.

I guess that I didn't realize the lake would freeze. Duh!! Well it was in the 40s and a lovely opportunity to walk on the beach and I was not alone. Others sauntered and enjoyed the day, some with pets too. It appears this state park is extremely popular during the warm, sunny months due to the enormous parking lots!

I went here primarily to walk around the beach, not sunbathe, picnic or spend an afternoon. Therefore I did not use the facilities and didn't stop by at peak times. The beach was larger than I expected coming from New England beaches. There are decent waves when the wind is from the right direction. The sunsets can be awesome as... More

The sand is nice, lifeguards on duty. Great places to have a picnic. For a little adventure walk out to the lighthouse, very interesting

Having grown up on the east coast visiting Cape Cod and the Outer Banks most summers (but living in Washington DC where there is no easy beach access for a day trip or afternoon visit), I was at once excited to have such easy beach access in Cleveland, and embarrassed to refer to Lake Erie beaches as "the beach." At... More

Headlands Beach is the best and largest beach in Ohio. The sand can be a little rocky, so be prepared. There is ample parking except for absolute peak times. The food stand does miss out on a lot of potential -- it is a simple dog, fries, etc. stand. I suppose that it is limited due to it being a... More

This has the potential of getting crowded, but you just need to go at the right time (mid-morning). The biggest disappointment is the sand. It feels like it has never been racked/combed. It is difficult to walk just find a spot and forget trying to walk along the lake!
