Unfortunately we arrived later in the day so we were only there for a short time. However we were treated to a beautiful, uncrowded sunset. This beach is large and the sand is very nicely maintained. The water slowly gets deep enough to swim(no big drop off) making it feel like a Gulf Coast beach. The parking seems ample and... More

I was a little nervous after I had read some of the other reviews, but we drove straight here from the interstate and I'm glad we did. The water was clean, warm, and the beach was big and pretty empty for a Sunday afternoon. Our children had a lot of fun, with gentle waves and a very gradual slope.

This beach is a real gem. It has a picnic shelter, sand volleyball net, and a great little playground for the kids. Parking is good. None of the other beaches, either public or private gives you so much. There is a small fee (5.00per car) but we pay it happily knowing that it goes to maintain this great spot.

Fun little access to local beach with cabins around. We ate at the Sand Bar. Pretty view of Lake Erie from the beach.

We were driving through Ohio and asked a local how to get to the nearest beach to watch the sunset. We were directed to Nickel Plate Beach. It is a lovely beach with a small playground area for kids. We were there on a weeknight in July and it was slightly overcast. A group of about 6 were playing football,... More

Ok-- the beach itself is beautiful, as is the view of Lake Erie. You pay $5 at the gate for parking, and that's the last time you see anyone who is "in charge." As another reviewer mentioned, dogs are plentiful here. Posted signs state they must be on leash; but apparently the dogs cannot read. While I don't hate dogs,... More

I personally have a private beach on the Cedar Point Chaussee but Nickel Plate is the nicest beach in the area open to the public without Cedar Point admission costs. Beware of rip currents associated with strong north east winds but otherwise...enjoy Lake Erie!

The beach might be nice, but the water in Lake Erie is so dirty and at times black. No thanks, I swim someplace else.

My brother and I were staying in the area to go to Cedar Point. The park wasn't open yet so we decided to go check it out. Very clean beach with great views of Lake Erie. We were the only ones there as it was a bit chilly so it was nice and peaceful!!

The beach wasn't bad shape the day we visited. We didn't find a lot of garbage around. It was quiet. Of course there was nobody around to collect the posted fee for parking. There is a building on the right that is probably a gathering point at night given the number of tea light candles piled up in the corners.... More
