Spent the day here mainly because I was given a behind the scenes with the Gorillas which I thoroughly enjoyed being an avid Ape lover. The park was a little lacking especially in the walk around area. No native animals in the Australian area except a couple of Koalas in the quarantine area and a lonely emu. Where were the... More

If you are thinking of going to The Werribee Open Range Zoo do not go on a hot day. I am probably going to be too harsh because my partner and I were part of a 16 day safari in Kenya some years ago which we loved and will always count as a highlight of our travelling experiences. The day... More

We went to Werribee Open Zoo at the end of November and in all honesty the Off Road Safari was amazing. Our guide was very knowledgeable and he took us all around the range, stopped to watch a mum and baby hippo playing and biting each other in the river and got photos just metres from rhinos, giraffes and zebras.... The safari isn't a very large one, but it's very well organized and set up. The animals are always a favorite with the kids. What I liked was the fact that they had a great Safari bus that took us around the safari in comfort (motorized steps extended downwards and outwards from the bus to make it easy for us... More

Open wild life is much more fun . A nice place to go with family . Rhino with horns in a massive enclosure a pleasure to see . Xx

My visit was with a visiting English couple and their child. We did quite a bit of walking before taking the tour of the open-range zoo. All good. We also liked the gift shop. One warning: the area where the zoo is (to the south-west of Melbourne) can be windier and colder than in the city, so take appropriate clothes.... More

We've been here quite a few times and we enjoy Werribee Open Range Zoo more after every visit! We take the children and walk the trail, then jump on the Safari Bus for a tour of the Open-range plains. The animals are amazing to watch in the wilderness. We often pack a picnic and sit on the grassy areas to... More

After 20 yrs last time being at the zoo was amazed the transformation. Absolutely delightful and famiky friendly. My two teenagers and 3 yr old loved the safari ride and loved the encounter with the animals. My 3yr old loved the kids area and was hard to get him away but lived pretending to be a vet to the animals... More

I think this is a great day out for the family and very good value for money at only AUD 30 per adult (our 2 year old was free). We're leaving Australia for a few years but if staying I'd invest in the yearly adult ticket for AUD 88 and a child is then free for the zoo's plus 5... More

We spent the day here and did the open vehicle safari tour.. It was freaking amazing to get to the animals up close like we did, we recommend this 100%. The tour guide we had was very knowledgeable she explained the quirks of each animal we visited. I especially loved the giraffes and being close to them was amazing =)
