We combined the "tall order" experience with the Slumber Safari and had one of the best weekends ever. We spent over an hour with the Giraffes feeding them boughs, carrots and apples while all the time learning about them. We then got to see around their sheds before heading back to the main zoo. All the keepers were great and... More

Spent overnight at Slumber Safari, Wonderful experience which we shared with children and grandchildren. Accommodation in Safari like cabins and en suites. Food catered for, up close and personnel with the animals after hours. Evening stroll through the zoo with a lovely zoo keeper who was very informative, then campfire with marshmallows, scones jam and cream. Buffett breakfast then personal... More

We visited Werribee Zoo today for probably the third time. This was the first visit in a number of years however. Our plan was to do the Safari trip first, then have a leisurely lunch with a glass of wine in the bistro, before finally wandering the trail to see the other animals before heading off on the long drive... We visited Werribee Zoo as party of a team building day, we really only got to do the safari part of the zoo as it was included in the day, so I can't comment on anything other than the safari, but as for the safari, I really loved it. The ride around on the bus gave you a wonderful opportunity... More

Spent the day here mainly because I was given a behind the scenes with the Gorillas which I thoroughly enjoyed being an avid Ape lover. The park was a little lacking especially in the walk around area. No native animals in the Australian area except a couple of Koalas in the quarantine area and a lonely emu. Where were the... More

If you are thinking of going to The Werribee Open Range Zoo do not go on a hot day. I am probably going to be too harsh because my partner and I were part of a 16 day safari in Kenya some years ago which we loved and will always count as a highlight of our travelling experiences. The day... More

We went to Werribee Open Zoo at the end of November and in all honesty the Off Road Safari was amazing. Our guide was very knowledgeable and he took us all around the range, stopped to watch a mum and baby hippo playing and biting each other in the river and got photos just metres from rhinos, giraffes and zebras.... The safari isn't a very large one, but it's very well organized and set up. The animals are always a favorite with the kids. What I liked was the fact that they had a great Safari bus that took us around the safari in comfort (motorized steps extended downwards and outwards from the bus to make it easy for us... More

My visit was with a visiting English couple and their child. We did quite a bit of walking before taking the tour of the open-range zoo. All good. We also liked the gift shop. One warning: the area where the zoo is (to the south-west of Melbourne) can be windier and colder than in the city, so take appropriate clothes.... More
