We joined the actors of this play after spending the day with World Heritage Cruise company. If possible see this play after the cruise as it is a send up of the convicts who were incarcerated on Sarah Island. Lots of audience participation! It was freezing cold (held outdoors but under cover), but given blankets to keep warm. This was... More

We went along as our guide of Sarah Island left us wanting more of the story.....turns out the guide was in the show and we cant thank him enough for giving us the motivation to check it out. Just over an hour of sweet energetic nuttiness - the venue, the actors, the props, the audience participation all bound together to... More

We sat in tiered seating, blankets supplied in case of a cold breeze, we laughed so much it hurt, but during the entertainment we learnt a lot about the early days of convict settlement at Sarah Island. My husband was chosen to be part of the action along with others, which he loved. The actors are professional and the audience participation... More

We had read about this special little theatre when planning our trip and decided to give it a go on our single evening in Strahan. This was also fuelled by our host at the Ormiston House (reviewed by me separately). It was a weekday so we didn't bother to book in advance.......Don't repeat our mistake!! We got in by the... Great show to see if you're in town. They provided blankets for everyone to use as it's a semi-outdoor theatre and the breeze was a bit crisp. Lots of audience interaction/involvement. Fantastic.

I have wanted to see this play for years but "things" always conspired against it happening. However there is a saying - "Better late than never." - and how true in this instance. The Ship That Never Was has to be the most engaging & enjoyable piece of theatre I have seen for years. The cast of two (women on... More

That was one of the best thing we experienced during our short trip around Tasmania. The same very talented actresses show around Sarah Island which makes this place very interesting and I wish all history classes looked like that :)

I was a bit reluctant to go to the show - I think cringe-worthy amateur hour theatre with a "when is this going to finish?" mentality. How wrong was I? Funny, non-stop play with audience participation and I an sure with a lot of ad-lib jokes and add-ons. The 2 actors worked well together and I am sure must have... More

This was definitely the highlight of our brief, unplanned stay in Strahan. Performed by the Round Earth Company, TSTNW tells the important story of the final ship built on the nearby penal colony of Sarah Island, together with some of the history leading up to the desperate escape. But it's told in a very funny way, with huge amounts of... More

Having been to Sarah Island on the Gordon River Trip today, this play was a perfect end to the day It recounts the true story of an escape from the Sarah Island penal colony in a humorous way with considerable use of the audience (2 actors and 7 audience members on stage and lots of panto style audience participation.
