As a family of 4 (7 & 9 yo), the overnight trip in a cabin from Devonport was better for us than the day trip over from Melbourne. The day trip can be a little tedious for the younger kids. Children < 5yo, there is a little playground, children > 5 to 12 (?) there is the arcade but it... More

We don't use the Spirit very often but needed to bring a car, so decided to try the recently upgraded ferry. Overall it seems a practical and well done overhaul - most of the outdated features are gone and the new look is fresh, with plenty of open space, good access to outdoor areas, and revamped restaurant and bars. The... More

Whilst the recent refurbishment looks modern and clean carpets and seating is appreciated, we found it impossible to find a comfortable chair in any of the areas. The refurbishment did not extend to the cabins (apart from new carpet) with possibly the exception of the few very expensive deluxe cabins. The beds are still unbelievably hard! The new dining area... More

Through experience we have found that it suits us better to have a room to ourselves, with a window - you might not see much during the night crossing but it doesn't feel so 'submarinish' when you have a window! The ferries used have been upgraded in the restaurant areas and being as we didn't have any issues previously, we... More

So easy - quite quick to board, cabins are comfortable. Games and movies for kids. Decent bars. Food could be better.

The Spirit of Tasmania is a amazing ship to cross the Tasman. We originally booked a cabin but circumstances got us a day early to Melbourne so we could get the car and campervan on but we could only get recliner seats instead of a cabin. Cause we change our booking after booking a cabin 3 months ago there was... More

I am writing this on behalf of my grandmother. My grandmother and her friend travelled on Spirit of Tasmania, when they got their luggage in Tasmania the hand of the port was snapped off and on the way back in Victoria the security strap was broken. My grandmother's friend's bag was also damaged. Both ladies made a complaint to staff... More

Went on the boat in September 2016 after the 'upgrade' to the boat. We booked a Night trip in a recliner after spending a night in Melbourne. First off... The recliner doesn't go back very far and at terrible angle. Plane seats are more comfortable than these recliners. Second... The so called 'upgrades' which consist of bolted on wood decoration... I was happy with this cabin. We had a deluxe cabin right up the front right hand corner with a tv with good reception and toilet/shower. It had enough room and nice ammenities. There was a bit of noise from above. Could use a fridge or some cupboards. Im a nervous sailor so wanted a drink to ease my nerves... More
