Our eighth round trip across Bass Strait. We were lucky enough to get a smooth trip both ways, ten days apart. Our twin cabin with ensuite was fine. We ate in the Leatherwood Restaurant and found the food, wine and service very good. On the return trip the boat was late in so there was a bit of a delay... More

They've tried, they really have, but the ferry seemed old and run down. dining options were next to nothing and extremely expensive.. we enjoyed the movies but really, for 10 hours, its no cruise ship and it would have been cheaper and SO SO much faster to fly.. so unless you desperately need your own car.. i'd skip the spirit.

We took 2 day sails to and from Tasmania for our holiday. The reason was to save a bit of money as the tickets are so expensive. This makes it a long trip but saying that there are more than enough activities to keep you busy. An overall enjoyable experience and one we will do again.

Wonderful food! Clean cabins & friendly staff! I wish the trip was longer... I didn't feel like getting off.

The facilities i.e restaurants, bars, entertainment are good. The trip was comfortable. The advertising is misleading in that you cannot book a trip without also paying for a seat or a cabin but the advertised price does not include these. I live in tasmania and would love to be able to afford weekend trips to Melbourne but it is simply... More

We have travelled many times on the Spirit, usually going overnight and staying in a cabin with a sea view. We have only once used the cruise seat option, but were not comfortable, so we prefer the cabins. The cabins are basic, but quite comfortable for the short trip. Bring an extra pillow - the single small pillow provided is... More

We actually last travelled in Jan 2014 and recently missed a trip in Jan 2015 due to unforeseeable circumstances. I'm a big fan of all vessels that float and love a good road trip. Being able to take our own car back to Sydney & Melbourne to drive ourselves to family and friends beats getting a hire car hands down.... More

We went on the overnight sail. In Melbourne we did have about an hour wait in line before being allowed to board with our vehicle. I would suggest anyone with children, take something to occupy them during the waiting time. We arrived at Station Pier at 5.30pm and were inside the pier area for the wait, so we didn't have...
