Been twice now and not likely to be a third time, ride on both voyages was not pleasant, of course they cannot control the weather but not worth taking the risk given the temperament of the Bass Strait. Pricing is too high, cheap fares advertised are hard to get. If you want to drive around Tassie in your own car... More

The ship from hell. Sunday 26th July day trip. The wait to board the ship until 9.30 then did not arrive into Melbourne until 9.30pm. Everyone onboard was sick. The entire place smelt like vomit. The staff were always standing around the captains resturant to talk badly about passengers and fellow staff. One staff member obviously pregnant and hating her... More

This was an amazing experience for our family. The restaurant (Captain's Table) was excellent, our 4-berth cabin with port-hole was wonderful, we just loved the whole experience. It was around a full moon so we could see very clearly outside without the lights on at night. I really treasure this experience and we did a return journey back from Tasmania... More

I booked six of us on the spirit and one of our party had a birthday that day so we decided to book for the six of us in the better restaurant!! Firstly they don't take bookings? I would have thought that for food preparation alone the numbers would be helpful, just make a booking once on board they said.... More

Overall loved travelling on the Spirit of Tasmania ferry, but get some comfy chairs pls 8 hours is a long time sitting in those horrible seats. On board food and drink prices are a rip off with $30+ for a plate of ordinary food etc. Strongly recommend packing some fresh sandwiches, snacks and drinks before boarding.

Our trip on the Spirit of Tasmania was average. The queuing was a bit long before boarding, but once boarding started it went smoothly. Our inside three berth cabin was clean and compact, with everything we needed, but beds are too hard for comfort and it was far too warm in our cabin no matter how low we put the... More

I wrote a review for the Spirit a while back, with a few recommendations for new travelers. After my last trip, I really must reiterate that if you haven't been on the Spirit before, you need to be aware that even though you are advised that check-in is between 5pm-6.45pm - that you will be waiting in line for anything... Felt a bit like I was on the titanic, but over all a great journey with the kids, cabins a bit small but that is to be expected I guess, would highly recommend for a family.

Decided to go to Tassie with the car and this is certainly convenient. Unfortunately the vessel is undergoing refurbishment so facilities were limited. The 'loungers' are indeed in need of replacement, but, we did enjoy the food, there are a couple of good bars, the coffee was actually quite nice and the 'continental' breakfast offered early before docking is fresh... So well organised and friendly. They get you there safely in comfort with activity levels for all ages. Cabin very clean and comfortable. Food a bit pricey; saw one Dad with large plate piled like a pyramid with two extra empty plates for the boys - one way around it I suppose!
