This was our second time on the ferry with our car. We had a porthole cabin near the bow, a clear starry night and calm seas. We dined early in the Leatherwood restaurant which was excellent for both its food and service. It's an enjoyable way to travel and well worth the experience.

We were fortunate to buy travel in a twin cabin and take the car for a return trip for about $500 (there was a sale on earlier in the year). My review is with that in mind. Great price for two of us and the car - of course meant we had out own vehicle for the duration of the... More

Sooooo, this is a bit of a tricky one, but when you can get a flight to Launceston for $19 pretty regularly via cheap air fares, why would you do the Spirit? For an experience? Okay, let's go with that - and the fact that you want to take your own car, and perhaps the dogs. I have done this.... More

The noise inside your room. It's akin to a freight train that never finishes passing your window - and before you make an assumption about what room we booked - we were in the top class Deluxe queen size bed room. "Why are you going to Tasmania by sea when you can fly????" That is the question on all our... More

I've travelled on the Spirit of Tasmania a number of times, most recently in June and July 2014. It's just fine really... a very good experience. I took our dog on the last trip - there is a little beach near the parking area at Melbourne where he could exercise until it was time board. The staff were also happy... More

We basically travelled over on the Spirit of Tasmania so that we could take our car with us, and as much luggage as we needed for a weeks holiday. Boarding on and off the boat was fairly quick considering the amount of people on board and gaining access to our rooms was also quick & easy. On that note, I... More

This was the first time I had taken the Spirit of Tasmania. I was impressed with the friendly professional staff, both on shore and during the voyage. You are made to feel welcome upon arrival and definitely during the trip. I had an inside cabin (no window, which does not worry me), it was comfortable and very clean. The tourist... More

We travelled both ways with a 4WD and large caravan. The handling of the vehicles was very well done. We had the deluxe cabin on the front port side and the facilities, sleep quality and cabin were excellent. Had dinner in the Leatherwood Restaurant and we thought was very good. Overall both my wife and I were pleased with the... More

We took our car on the spirit and got quite a good deal with an exclusivbe double cabin - definitiely recommend doing this as the cabins are roomy enough and clean and the beds comfy plus I wouldn't want to share with anyone or sleep on those recliners that looks like a nightmare. It's pretty well organised if you know... More

This was the first time I had traveled on the Spirit of Tasmania. When I first read about it in the brochure I was curious to see what kind of entertainment and food options there were. I was very disappointed with the Chefs Table, it was like B-grade cafeteria food. For $18 you could get a 'small' plate which was... More
