We traveled on the evening ferry which leaves at 7.30pm with 2 small kids and 2 dogs. The tickets and website weren't very clear on the boarding process or time so I had to call. I'd heard all different stories from people about needing to be there from 5 and the problem of then having to wait in the car... More

We took our three children over with our car. On both trips, we were disappointed to find that upstairs food and drink locations were closed. Porthole cabin was twice the cost, but much smaller. The cost to drive from Roma in Queensland to Hobart, is now comparable to flying if we leave from Brisbane and that cost is purely associated... More

What could be better than bring your own vehicle from Melbourne into Tasmania, in the comfort of your car, because its the transport you know best. Hope aboard and chill in the Huge ship for a awesome time. Food is great and there are free movies to watch

Great service on board- helpful when driving car on and off ferry. Staff on board friendly. One Spirit had accessible entry to area where access tourist bookings but on return trip was not accessible. One leg the ramp was put out relatively quickly to get into car from lift area and one trip it was delayered significantly and area was... More

We took advantage of the winter special for 2 pensioners and a car. The porthole cabin was comfortable and had everything we needed. The sea was kind to us on both trips. Parking and access to our cabin was good on the trip from Melbourne as we were able to use the lift, but on the return trip we were... More

This was our second time on the ferry with our car. We had a porthole cabin near the bow, a clear starry night and calm seas. We dined early in the Leatherwood restaurant which was excellent for both its food and service. It's an enjoyable way to travel and well worth the experience.

We were fortunate to buy travel in a twin cabin and take the car for a return trip for about $500 (there was a sale on earlier in the year). My review is with that in mind. Great price for two of us and the car - of course meant we had out own vehicle for the duration of the... More

Sooooo, this is a bit of a tricky one, but when you can get a flight to Launceston for $19 pretty regularly via cheap air fares, why would you do the Spirit? For an experience? Okay, let's go with that - and the fact that you want to take your own car, and perhaps the dogs. I have done this.... More

The noise inside your room. It's akin to a freight train that never finishes passing your window - and before you make an assumption about what room we booked - we were in the top class Deluxe queen size bed room. "Why are you going to Tasmania by sea when you can fly????" That is the question on all our... More

I've travelled on the Spirit of Tasmania a number of times, most recently in June and July 2014. It's just fine really... a very good experience. I took our dog on the last trip - there is a little beach near the parking area at Melbourne where he could exercise until it was time board. The staff were also happy... More
