My husband & I went to Tasmania recently & decided to sail. We will not make the same mistake again! For the price you pay, we're getting ripped off. The food on board is expensive & not the correct temperature. My husband bought a 'chicken' sandwich, but it was 90% mayonnaise & 10% chicken. The mayo had made the bread... More

My Trip on the Spirit of Tasmania was excellent. We booked a cabin for the trip; I was traveling with my mature aged Mum who needs a little extra help. The staff were excellent in providing extra pillows and even an extension lead. I couldn’t have asked for more cooperation from them. The Travel booking service on board is also... More

Having been to Tasmania a number of times we always look forward to our visits, we went over on Spirit 1 and can only say this time we were disappointed in the ship, there is a lot of rust showing on the windows and surrounds and a fair amount of wear and tear throughout the ship. We had a deluxe... More

This was our second trip on Spirit, going both ways overnight in a cabin. This way you get a couple of days extra holiday and you get to your destination relaxed and with your own vehicle to drive away in. Far more civilized than flying and more relaxing! Always very crowded but if you have a cabin you can always... More

I wasn't able to ride the ship this time, but seeing it berthed on the port made me want to try it out soon, perhaps on my next trip.

Not a way I would recommend to my friends for this price, fly you get better service and more comfort. Cabins smell and you don't even have extra pillows, some staff very helpful, others very rude, can't believe I have to go back on this.food good, but was told by staff that the boat was being redone and losing the... The flexibility of having our own car to tour around Tasmania was definitely a plus. The cost was basically the same as flying and hiring a car. The facilities on board are very good with plenty of things to keep you occupied and different dining options. Whilst the organisation is excellent make sure you allow plenty of time for getting... the only complaint is why close the shop from 12noon to 2.30pm during the day when this is the only place you can buy a bottle of soft drink? yet you can buy alcohol all day! We travelled over at night in a cabin which had an ensuite and returned on a day trip in an ocean recliner both of... More

As a group of 17 motorbikes, we boarded the Spirit, were told where to park and to watch the staff tie our bikes down to floor with cargo straps. on tightening the straps, my handlebars (BMWK1200LT) were wrenched downwards so hard, they broke the fastening collar and bolts. Another backpacker parked his car behind ouras and left it in Neutral... More

The Spirit of Tasmania really is a catch-22, insofar as it's the best way to ultimately see Tasmania, but you have to put up with the voyage there. Given that many of the national parks in Tasmania require some dirt track driving, and a lot of car hire companies frown upon this, to truly experience the best parts of Tassie... More
