Took our little ones here today and had a thoroughly enjoyable walk through the wood looking for the characters. There were information points along the way to let little ones know different parts of the forest ecosystem. Of course the star of the show was the big G man himself, the kids loved it and couldn't wait to be next... More

Visited with my children (9 and 7) for the first time. We only stayed three hours as were en route home from a short break, but this is definitely a place where you can easily spend a whole day. We only tried a small part of all that is on offer - I couldn't believe how vast it is and... More

Been here several times with Grandaughter aged 7. Absolutely loves the place . Plenty of free activity as well as more challenging aerial rides through the trees etc which you have to pay for. Beautiful forest to walk through and children can play on several sculptures. Easy to get round the designated gravel paths. Plenty of playgrounds for all ages.... More

Our first time to Alice Holt and we loved it there. We started with the family cycle trail which was about 3 miles through the forest. Our boys (5 & 7) did struggle on some of the steeper parts, but that was probably down to hunger!. Luckily there is a picnic spot half way round so we re-fuelled and off... More

Visited for the first time on a Sunday in August. Parking was easy and considering there is no admission charge we believed the £5 parking for 4 hours to be more than fair. There is loads for families to do. We did the habitat trail which offered 4 different play sculptures, the timberline trail which had a fun wooden trim... More

Our 5 year old son had an amazing time following the Gruffalo Trail through Alice Holt Forest! And the whole family enjoyed this visit to this beautiful forest. We went for the easy trails due to a mom with arthritis but this was no problem, the forest paths are easy to walk on, no problem. Anyone who would enjoy a... More

We had a family day out at Alice Holt & had a fabulous time. It's free to visit and we paid the very reasonable charge of £5 for 4 hours parking. The vast woodland is lovely, with designated walks/trails and lots of places to explore. We followed The Gruffalo Trail and you'll be able to see him (large sculpture) until... More

Alice Holt is an excellent destination in woodland for active children from toddlers upwards. Entrance is by the car park charge - £7 for a car for over 4 hours is a reasonable cost for, say, 2 adults and 2 or 3 children. (Lesser charges for shorter periods). For that you get a good safe low-tech playground, a well-signposted Gruffalo... More

Good for an active day out! You can get here by train, about an hour from London to Bentley Station.

On the plus side, it's a pleasant area which seems to have been well planned and well maintained. It is nice to walk round, especially as there are lots of level paths and few muddy bits (in summer, anyway!). So it's a nice destination if you want a compact dose of countryside with easily accessible cafe and toilets. On the... More
