Tamworth castle is a very interesting attraction for adults and children alike. The views over the nearby park and further afield are wonderful. The castle is perched on a mound that was originally built in 1180. There is much to see and do within the castle including trying on armour and feeling the weight of the swords. The castle is... My wife and I took a day trip here. You really feel like your part of the history, staff are great, plenty to do with the kids. The only thing I can say about this place is on the stairs by the ladies chamber, I was looking downwards(as it was roped off) I felt like something pushed past me! We... More

Tamworth Castle stands on the original mound of the former wooden stronghold built during Anglo Saxon times. It was the capital of Mercia ruled by Ethelfleda. The present castle dates back to Norman times and was added to during theTudor period. Now in the hands of Tamworth Borough Council, it is open daily throughout the year and is well worth... More

Beautiful castle in lovely position overlooking bandstand, lawns and swans on River Anker. Hands on activities for children - watch out for ghosts and find out about the capital of the largest Anglo Saxon Kingdom of Mercia. King Offa's capital and the home of Sir Robert Peel who repealed the corn laws from the upper windows of Guy's Hall.

We visited here after walking over from the Premier Inn @ Tamworth Central, what a lovely place to visit! When we first arrived we weren't sure whether to go inside, but the lady on the entrance was very nice and offered to let us into the coffee shop, but we opted to walk around the outside first. Once we had... More

The car park directions lead you to park by the river so that you walk through the river park which is a pleasant way to enter the castle. Once inside this mott & bailey castle you are free to meander at will - (climb onto 2 internal walkways and out onto top of tower for views). Lots to read about... More

Great little Castle in some small but well maintained grounds. Quite a good play park for kids next to it , not to mention a large low-rise shopping centre! Entry was quite pricey for a relatively small attraction but the Castle did seem well run/maintained and had some interesting exhibits. I was massively disappointed when getting close up to the... I just popped in as I had some spare time while waiting for a bus and I was really happy I did so. The weather was nice as well as the park in the castle grounds and the castle itself was very nice too.
