I live within 20 miles of the castle but (apart from a vague childhood memory) don't believe I had visited before. Not the most majestic or largest castle in the country but Tamworth Castle is a pearl of a building dating back 900 years. Plenty to see and do for the whole family. Great period furnished rooms as well as hands on things for the little ones

Informative displays, interactive things to do, and particularly enjoyed seeing some of the Staffordshire Hoard on display with some replica pieces.

On a recent and first visit to Tamworth Castle we had a very enjoyable visit. We first had a short guided walk of the grounds by a couple of lady guides who had just started doing the tours. They provided some interesting details on the history and background of the castle dating back to Norman times. There are three floors... More

I remember going around Tamworth castle when I was a kid so it was nice fetching my kids around. It seems to have changed quite a bit. It doesn't seem as big as it used to. I remember walking up some haunted stairs which seem to have gone now. Their exhibitions seems to have reduced quite a bit as well... More
