The castle is great. It is set in a beautifully landscaped park with loads of things for a family to do (playground, river with geese). The car park they recommend you use is only a short distance away and with plenty of spaces for £1.50 was great. The road system around Tamworth threw us a bit I would recommend a... More

This is a very nice day trip for the family. The Castle has some interesting artefacts and displays. It is one of the best Saxon Castles in the country. The surrounding grounds are very attractive and also have childrens' play areas which are free of charge. It is a lovely place to take a picnic and have a cheap family... More

We went here as a family of 7 and can honestly say from the 58 yr old to the 4 yr olds we all had an amazing afternoon. The hubby (32) decided to dress up as a knight, one daughter (4) decided she was going to be a scullery maid and another daughter (4) decided to wine and dine everyone... More

Took my 4 year old son today £7 for adults £1.50 upto age 4. Took about 20 minutes to walk round. I like history but didn't find it that great. Weather was nice so some nice views looking out of the castle. I don't think very interesting for young children. Glad visited but wouldn't visit again.

Lovely to be able to touch stuff and sit on things. So different from the National Trust. Took a16 yr old German student who loved it all. Well laid out, not overdone with detailed information which can put one off. View form the top worth looking at, I am scared of heights but did it and glad I made the... More

Well set out with things for children to do including dressing up and putting themselves in stocks and pillory and a quiz. Connection with the Staffordshire hoard. A castle that has been altered over the centuries. Great view from the tower. Limited cafe and shop. Easy parking (£1.50 all day). Surrounded by public gardens and a very good play park.

My grandchildren age 7 and 4 loved it, they dressed up and couldn't wait to go back when it was Hallowe'en. To get in the castle one had to climb a lot of steps, being disabled I sat on a bench at the bottom, so I didn't get to see inside.

Superb Motte and Bailey castle started in 1086 added to over the centuries, the motte being the largest after Windsor Castle. Has a great local history section showing some of the Staffordshire Hoard and Gibbs & Canning pieces. Even better if you take a private tour with a Town Guide.

We visited at the beginning of December 2013 with our 2 children aged 4 and 6. We booked over the phone and collected out tickets on the day. This was a wonderful visit, all the staff were very friendly and made it a very enjoyable experience for all the family, the experience was very well planned and organised, the children... More
