Thank you for taking the time to visit Whalton Manor Gardens. I am sorry you felt the garden was not as you expected, but I wonder if you may have missed some of our many borders with their huge range of plants and original and varied planting combinations ,set within the 3 acres of historic gardens .The blue Himalayan poppies... We went here to see a shakespeare production which was superb and the setting just lovely. The gardens are pretty and we were made to feel extremely welcome. We hope to return next year.

Historically significant, this 17th century house with its 3 acre garden is bursting with inspirational planting and magnificent architectural structures. Roses are in full bloom in June. Outstanding display of Topiary.

The gardens, designed by Gertrude Jekyll, are beautiful and accessible - not so large as to be overwhelming. The Lutyens designed house is lovely to look at, as well, very covetable. All in all, it makes one think of it as the perfect little English manor house and garden. The village is quite a nice little village, as well. Not... More

An absolutely stunning private garden which would be perfect for a seasonal wedding. The gardens are unique and there are several locations which lend themselves to a marquee. Whilst there are various architectural photo opportunities which add to the exclusivity. The gardens have to be seen to be appreciated. Unfortunately - or fortunately - only open by appointment!

Fantastic. Really nice and well wrth a visit. The people really car about what they don and the people who visit them. Well worth a visit. Penny is wonderful. You just fall in love with her enthusiasm for this small attraction. They deserve to succeed and I wish them every success. D

What a brilliant little garden and you get tour from the owners themselves who are obviously passionate about what they do. I think these privately owend gardens are always the best and this is no exception. One of the outbuildings has been altered to provide seating and you can enjoy a really nice cream tea to top of the visit.

Great for groups interested in plants and gardening .Not a children's playground. We had an excellent visit with Durham Flower Club. We were warmly welcomed by owners Penny and Tim Norton. After a brief talk on the history of the house and garden we were taken on a most informative tour of the garden by Penny. Of particular note is... More
