No goats on the roof!

Disappointing at the lack of goats on the roof, just two goats in a pen nearby, I believe this is due to new management taking the time to replenish the roof. Coffee was OK and... read more

Unfortunately we have had to close Goats On The Roof. Sadly the business was unsustainable, we are trying to figure out a viable option for the building moving forward. We would like to thank everyone for the support we have had. Anthony and Jess

Looking for a cup of tea on the road south from Rothbury we came upon Goats on the Roof. What a lovely surprise - beautiful views across Fontburn Reservour, what a peaceful spot. We were warmly welcomed by the lovely young couple running the place. The tea was very welcome and the homemade cakes were simply delicious. Will definately return... More

Good food and friendly service. A spacious cafe with a very good child play area and a wonderful view of the reservoir. Beautiful display of art.

Disappointing at the lack of goats on the roof, just two goats in a pen nearby, I believe this is due to new management taking the time to replenish the roof. Coffee was OK and there is a nice area for children. The view across the reservoir was lovely and the building itself is very nice.

I called in at the weekend not expecting what to find. Well there was no goats on the roof but clearly they can graze there when the grass grows. The coffee and cakes were lovely and the views spectacular. A delightful spot in the middle of nowhere to enjoy a break. The staff were warm and friedly. I shall definitely return.

Visited goats on the roof on the last bank holiday. Lovely spacious cafe and my 3 year old daughter loved the farmyard animal shaped sandwiches. The set up had clearly been thought through as there was a little area that kids could draw pictures and colour in (pens and paper were provided) which is often overlooked in many other places.... This was our first visit to Goats on the Roof, near Morpeth. I was very impressed by the lovely setting, although was a little dismayed not to see a herd of naughty goats chucking scorn down on the visitors, not even a kid blowing raspberries was to be seen. We discovered however, that the goats had, in the past, pulled... More

Heard there was new owners at GOTR, so we popped in to see what it was like and enjoyed a nice lunch here on Saturday. These people really seem to know what they are doing! I really wish this place could get a drinks licence, it would be lovely to have a beer on the veranda in the Summer! Also,... More

Visited a busy Goats on the Roof for its 2014 season reopening day on a sunny Good Friday lunchtime and was impressed by the gorgeous location and warm welcome by Jill and Jessica who have just taken over. Enjoyed a nice omelette overlooking Fontburn Reservoir and the surrounding countryside then popped outside to see the goats (who weren't on the... More
