A lot of work put in for the 1/2 term Halloween wee. We loved the room full of hats & riding equipment! Empty wine bottle collection raised a smile. Must be an eternal optimist to keep this place going so visit whilst you have an opportunity Good lunch.

The concept of this magnificent herd of cattle just has to be understood! There is a bit of a walk to get to the starting place, but once there the visit is with a guide who explains all about the cattle. If you are able to go here you will find it well worth while.

Liked it on previous visit over ten years ago when with young children, who found some aspects scary. This visit found it all a bit tired looking and some exhibits had written descriptions with poor spelling which I found very amateurish.

Loved this place, shows off more about the character of the owner than the normal sterile stately home. Packed full of fascinating objects in a fabulously spooky setting. Trip to see the wild cattle was worth it too, another fascinating story. One of my favourite castles I have been too. Love it

The castle isn't very accessible to people who have problems with walking such as my grandma. The rooms are filled with a lot of things, I'm not sure how it all applies to the castle and it's history. When I went up to the kings room with my brother I stepped on a dead bat not the most pleasant expirence... More

This is the second time that we've visited Chillingham, and it's just as good as the first time. The interior of the castle is not beautifully manicured, nor is it spotlessly clean, but this is part of its charm. It has an incredible mix of collections in each of the rooms, a real feast for the senses. There is a... More

Visited Chillingham Castle today. Wish we hadn't bothered. The entrance fee reflects a good quality visitor attraction; the experience of visiting does not! On arrival, the tea room was shut due to a visit from a coach party. Apparently the tea room was located in the summer house which turned out to be a small structure with only outside chairs... More

I admire the family for taking on Chillingham Castle but they have filled all the rooms open to the public with irrelevant junk. Nothing is in character or date, the visit was a total waste of money.

Had reservations reading other reviews, however we all totally admire "one mans labour of love" with help from others obviously! Keep up the good work. We will return.. Don't expect castle Howard or Chatsworth. That would be a little unfair. Totally unique in our eyes!
