We decided to take a tour of the theatre at 3pm without any prior booking. Greeted by friendly receptionist and asked if we would like to donate the suggested £3.50 each which we were happy to do and to Gift Aid it too. The tour took an hour, led by a knowledgeable and friendly gentleman. We were given a thorough... More

We come to the magnificent pantomime every year so when we had our two grandsons [5 &9 years old] for the weekend my wife booked a tour. We had our own exclusive guide, a lovely Scottish lady who knew stacks of interesting facts about the theatre. Everyone we met was interested and interesting in the boys and we spent a... More

Wow what can I say, just on the off chance we popped in to reception and were made to feel extremely welcome, tours of this exquisite theatre are offered every hour and Andy was very knowledgable about every aspect of the Theatre, it's history and the period. We will definitely be coming back when we are next in the area.

In the oldest working theatre in England we saw a quinticentially British "Pantomime" of Puss n' Boots. The theatre is small (seats about 200) and intimate. Attendees sit on wooden benches -- all within a few feet of the stage. Tours are available to learn the history of this cultural gem.

This little theatre takes one back in time and makes the visitor part of the production. It never fails to provide me with a good night out, and the programme is so varied that it invariably caters for visitor or local patron throughout the year. The Christmas pantomime is especially not to be missed by adults because you will become... More

We attended a production of Ibsen's Dolls House which was an enjoyable play set in the wonderful ambience of this tiny Georgian theatre, which is apparently the oldest working theatre in England. A very enjoyable experience.

We visited the theatre and had a guided tour with Geoffrey, who was very knowledgeable about the theatre's history. It was great to see so much being preserved and the original features that remained. Unfortunately, due to other commitments, we were unable to stay to watch a performance, however, I'd love to do so in the future.
