If you have even the smallest interest in theatre,or history, you MUST visit. The guide was very knowledgeable and east to listen to, Not expensive to get in and ideal if you need to escape a sudden shower, too. Well worth a hour or two.

The Georgian Theatre Royal takes you back in time. Opened in 1688 the interior of the theatre and the stage are little altered from the early days of theatre. The programmes cover a wide spectrum and there is something for everyone during the year. The stage has a steep rake and the seating is on three sides. If there isn't... More

This theatre complete with a small museum at the rear is one of the oldest working theatre's in Britain. Relatively recently refurbished it is in almost constant use, welcoming both local, national and international stars onto its historic stage. The interior is fitted out mush as it would have been in the Georgian period complete with inclined stage, bench seating,... More

this theatre may be small and it's not the 'West End' of London... but still alive and real, with new ideas and committed productions coming up! Let's junk the TV and movies for that matter -- to go out and see something different. When I was there, to visit; I sensed new kinds of excitement, interest and innovation, surprises and... More

Had an hilarious night at this historic little theatre to watch the junior members of the theatre put on an hilariously funny adaptation of Dumas's The Three Musketeers. Strong performances from some very talented Young actors ably assisted by younger cask members learning their trade.

This is an excellent tour of an interesting theatre. The guide was friendly, very knowledgeable and answered our questions. There were amusing stories about the people who used to frequent the theatre. The experience of sitting in each part of the theatre and ending up on the stage is great fun. This was one of our highlights of a visit... More

The history and stories about this unique theatre are worth the time. The description of the antics of theatre 'goers' in the 18th century is both hilarious and fascinating.

This tiny theatre has been lovingly restored and attracts a wide range of performers. If you really want to feel what the late eighteenth century was like, and enjoy a special evening, book something there. It doesn't matter what, but last night's Bob Fox concert was something else. Perfect venue for a solo artist.

We visited back in early April and had a very quick guided tour (quick because we had an appt elsewhere and the guide very kindly offered to do the tour at a brisk pace!) As we enjoyed our brief look we decided to book. It's quite a trek from where we are but our visit last night was well worth... More
