Traveled on the Santa train today with our two grandchildren, as we had been before they were very excited about meeting the snowman, and the rest of the elfs and to tell the snowman a joke or two, as they have in the past but disopointed there was no snowman or any kind singalong as in the past, we must... My daughter and I took my three grandchildren on this Santa train today. Every member of staff (I think they may all be volunteers) was friendly and helpful. We had a complimentary cup of coffee before boarding the train. The station master who welcomed us on board was jolly and great with the girls. The children were given engine shaped... More

This was an excellent day out. We caught the train from Leeming Bar to Redmire. From there we were able to walk to Castle Bolton (30 minutes) and then back to the Bolton Arms in Redmire for lunch. From there it is 10-15 minutes back to the station. The volunteers are incredibly helpful and friendly. The shop at Leeming Bar... More

First of all let me say that the whole point of our trip to Yorkshire was to travel on this railway.Unfortunatly their steam loco was not running on that day,but I think we were very lucky that the trains were running at all mid week in October. Our mode of transport was a DMU which must have been one of the... We had a Living Social voucher for afternoon tea on this historic railway. It was a glorious Sunday afternoon in September when we were all seated at our individually named tables with tablecloths and vases of flowers. The waitress brought us trays of sandwiches as we journeyed through the gorgeous countryside from Leeming Bar to Redmire. Pouring the tea from... More

Weather was very ordinary and we were looking for something to cheer us up. We started at Leeming Bar and whilst we waited for the diesel train to depart we had a coffee in the buffet car parked at the platform. We were greeted by smartly dressed volunteer who took trouble to make us the drink that each of us... More

Lovely way to spend a coupe of hours admiring the scenery. You can get off at the few stops along route, definitely take the time to walk to The Tea Pottery in Leyburn. Reasonably priced for a family of 4 Adults and 1 child.
