Visited midweek after the Tour of France had passed through Leyburn and the area and the railway still in festive mood. Timetable had been revised and we were still a little late but timings were generous and plenty of time to see the scenery and Leyburn station and later Redmire. Transport was the LEV 1 Railcar - a rail enthusaist's... More

Joined train at Leeming Bar ,first train of day at 10am. Pulled by a diesel engine. Lovely journey through stunning countryside. The views will be improved when they remove the overgrown trees along the track.the volunteer staff help to make the journey even more enjoyable as they are great characters and also very knowledgable we went all the way to... We used the train to travel to the opening day of the Tour de France in Yorkshire. It was absolutely the best way to get there while avoiding the traffic and road closings. The real plumb, though, is the wonderful view of rhe countryside, which is always there. So, there is no need to wait for a special event. The... More

We would like to say we had an excellent day out on this railway where we found the staff to be very friendly, helpful and pleasant. The journey was scenic and interesting. This railway has a lot of potential for the future and we will deffinately be back for more visits.

We returned to Wensleydale Railway this weekend with my father who is a train enthusiast and wanted to visit Leyburn, I felt compelled to write. The train journey it self was lovely but wish we'd gone on a Steam weekend, however at alighting at Leyburn, what a lovely surprise the tearoom was, brighter with cloths and a far better offering.... Had my first ever visit to this railway on 8 June, Sunday and loved every minute of it! The staff were very friendly and welcoming. On Leeming Bar station is a lovely shop and cafe. Its great value for money and a very scenic round trip on the train where you can hop on and off at any station you... More

We were very disappointed as no one made us feel welcome or explained what the trip involved. We thought it would be the steam train but it only runs on specified days so we thought it quite expensive at £14. The staff on the train made no attempt to be friendly or answer any questions we had. If you are... More

Checked "Steam Railway" magazine for a day out on the rails. I like the railways with a decent piece of track and so chose the Wensleydale. On phoning the Railway, found that a steam hauled train was running on the Friday. Drove over from Ambleside for the 12.00 steam hauled train. Lovely little tank loco "JoeM" pulled the train. An extra... More

Although it rained constantly it did not dampen anyones spirits are we passed through the wonderful countryside drinking Champagne.
