This centre gives you a real view of the lives of deep sea fishermen, it has the sounds and smells of a trawler at sea feel the movement of the sea whilst standing at the side of a trawler, view the interior of a trawler and be amazed by the amount of food prepared for the crew. It captures life... More

Many thanks for your kind words! We're thrilled that you enjoyed your experience at the Grimsby Fishing Heritage Centre. Much of the interior of the centre is sourced from original fixtures and fittings from ships. They have then been carefully dressed to try to appear as they were when in use. ROSS TIGER, our preserved 1957 side trawler, is also... More

We spent a pleasant hour looking round the museum which takes you through replicas of areas on board a traditional trawler giving you an insight into the workings of a 1950's fishing boat and the industry they supported. This was followed by another hour being shown round the last surviving Trawler for the Hull fleet. The boat is starting to... More

Many thanks for your review! We're pleased you enjoyed your visit and your tour with Dennis. We should point out that the Ross Tiger is the last ‘side trawler’ in the town from the old GRIMSBY fleet; she wasn't registered with Hull. She was, however, fitted with her electrics and much of the interior fitting out was done at Hull.... More

A delightful look at the fishing industry that this country once lead in. I did take the tour around the fishing vessel moored at the quayside, which was excellent tour into working and living space of the trawler men. Although the tour was advertised as 45 minutes, the tour was only half an hour but as there was only three... More

Many thanks for your review! We're pleased that you enjoyed your visit at the Grimsby Fishing Heritage Centre. Tour time lengths of Ross Tiger can vary. In a large group the guide must wait in each area for the group to safely come through the doorways, steps, etc before starting to speak. A smaller group can therefore flow much faster,... More

The Fishing Heritage centre is ideal for a leisure or educational visit. The exhibits are well laid out with plenty of interactive activities to keep all ages engaged. The tour round the old trawler is particularly interesting but only recommended for those who are able to scale the ladders and don't mind being in quite confined spaces. The parking is... More

I chanced upon the Heritage Centre by pure happenstance as my wife and I were having a quick drive around Grimsby before heading home after a short break. The museum itself is interesting and my wife ( a teacher) was impressed by the focus on informing and enthusing children and the skill of the design and content. I was simply... More

A very good place to visit, very informative and educational. Great for school groups to learn the struggles of work at that time.

Very mixed curation. They have made many of the rooms into the parts of a fishing vessel replicating the sights and sounds and making it hot in the engine room and cold on deck. This works really well. There are some good exhibits telling the history of the town with fine photographs and paintings. Some parts well directed at school... More

My grandad has just recently taken me to the fishing heritage centre, and the experience was brilliant, also including the Ross tiger to have a look around and an ex-skipper showed us around and talked to us about the way the Ross tiger was looked after and what he used to do. This is highly recommended both for the fishing... More
