Went to the Duke for drink with family who were down for the week. Three and a half pints for well over £17! One pint was a premium beer but also cheap lager, pulled ale and half of cider- not exactly champagne! Same night was way cheaper in the 'Black Dog' and 'Pearsons' so will not be going back. I'm... Just finished my fish and chips in joneses, thought a jar of late red would go down well. Got to bar to be told they were shut until 7.30. Something about a band. Another large party of punters turned away too. Must be doing well to be able to do that. A shame as I rate the place and the... More

I came here Sunday to watch a band, I found the pub to be old, tired, and grubby, the toilets the same, luckily 1 had a working lock on the door! I bought a drink and asked for a can and put a straw in it cause I didn't fancy drinking out of there glasses. There was a horrible scruffy... More

Nice pub, good selection of beers and often entertainment, spoilt for me by a brief encounter with a very rude pot man (so I thought) who barged past me, spilling my drink. Turning round to accept an apology only to be told that I was standing in the wrong place. I was speechless, even more so when I found out... More

This is a good pub. There is plenty of seating, a nice outdoor area where you an enjoy a delicious smelling fresh burger in the sunshine. And there is live music on a regular basis. The prices are pretty reasonable and the atmosphere is friendly. I'd definitely go back again.

Had a nice pint of Shepard Neame's Master Brew. They also had a good selection of ales and lagers. Nice atmosphere and open fire. A nice pub for a pint.

Although we didn't eat here, I feel a cheeky 'drinks only review' was needed for this place. The place is a proper old school pub, with plenty of seating with not very load music to do what is a British necessity.......drink and chat! A great range of beers and other drinks that are reasonably priced. A superb place to make... More

Needed a room on Monday night at short notice, so called the Duke. No answer, the reason being (as I found out when I arrived in Whitstable) they don't bother to open on a Sunday evening. Went in for pint on Monday night to see if it has improved since my last visit - poor quality beer even for Shep's... More

Went Friday 25 October and had brilliant time entertained by "Nagasaki 3". Very good to have such a good 50s rock band and they filled the large and splendid back of the pub.
