This pub was just across the road from our rented flat , we called in for a couple of drinks and were made very welcome by the bartender , it has a lovely comfortable interior .

We stopped here with our dog on a wet lunchtime, had a welcoming drink. Food menu look good but not huge, the food we saw looked very appetising although we did not eat! Owners dogs in pub very well behaved. Papers available to read throughout pub.

After a lovely meal in the Whitstable Oyster Co, our large party broke up and some of us gravitated to the Duke of Cumberland - the collection of old radios drew the ex-pirates from Radio Essex in the 60's in and the ambience was good. We left when it started getting noisy

I can't speak from a restaurant or hotel point of view (yet!) but I visit Whitstable a fair amount and always make sure I visit the Duke. Great value for drinks, very fast service and the atmosphere is brilliant. They have live bands every week and everyone is always having a good time, no sense of hostility from over drunk... More

The bar staff are nice and the bands are generally good however the owners are horrible, vile people. They shouldn't be allowed near the public, their manners are awful and their language is atrocious. Will never step foot in there again and advise everyone else to do the same.

Went in for a post shopping drink on a weekday evening. Very, very friendly bar staff, with a great knowledge of the local brews. Lots of customers and a very nice vibe. Looks to be the place to be on a weekend night.

Went to the Duke for drink with family who were down for the week. Three and a half pints for well over £17! One pint was a premium beer but also cheap lager, pulled ale and half of cider- not exactly champagne! Same night was way cheaper in the 'Black Dog' and 'Pearsons' so will not be going back. I'm... Just finished my fish and chips in joneses, thought a jar of late red would go down well. Got to bar to be told they were shut until 7.30. Something about a band. Another large party of punters turned away too. Must be doing well to be able to do that. A shame as I rate the place and the... More
