This is a good pub. There is plenty of seating, a nice outdoor area where you an enjoy a delicious smelling fresh burger in the sunshine. And there is live music on a regular basis. The prices are pretty reasonable and the atmosphere is friendly. I'd definitely go back again.

Had a nice pint of Shepard Neame's Master Brew. They also had a good selection of ales and lagers. Nice atmosphere and open fire. A nice pub for a pint.

Although we didn't eat here, I feel a cheeky 'drinks only review' was needed for this place. The place is a proper old school pub, with plenty of seating with not very load music to do what is a British necessity.......drink and chat! A great range of beers and other drinks that are reasonably priced. A superb place to make... More

Needed a room on Monday night at short notice, so called the Duke. No answer, the reason being (as I found out when I arrived in Whitstable) they don't bother to open on a Sunday evening. Went in for pint on Monday night to see if it has improved since my last visit - poor quality beer even for Shep's... More

Went Friday 25 October and had brilliant time entertained by "Nagasaki 3". Very good to have such a good 50s rock band and they filled the large and splendid back of the pub.

Really enjoyed a Sunday afternoon in the Duke listening to fantastic live music, and being from London my wife and I also found the price and choice of drinks to be excellent (a pint of bitter and glass of Prosecco £6.20 - cant get the wine for that price in London pubs!!) If you got a couple of hours to... More

This place baffles me. Prices are average. beer is ok. The music, well, you chance your luck really. But the service?????? And the attitude?????? GEEEEEEZ. Not sure if the guy running it owns it or is running it for someone but I do hope if it is the latter they actually take the time to read these reviews

Profound rudeness from a member of bar staff and the proprietor on returning (politely) a distinctly unsavoury tarnished/dirty beer glass will certainly prevent me using this establishment with any frequency. Front of house courtesy is the most cost effective means of ensuring returning customers and should be, at the very least, paramount in any licencees mind.
