A great day out on the barge Greta, many thanks to Steve and his 'crew' Tomo. From start to finish a wonderful experience unfortunately due to weather couldnt go to forts but we did go to the Sheppey bridges, which as an islander was very much enjoyed. Steve and Tomo were very informative along the way and served us tea... More

A very enjoyable day, three hours up to the Sheppey bridges under power, then three sailing back. Weather was ideal - sun and wind - lots of tea and coffee, and even a chance to steer for a while. Thanks to Skipper Steve, First Mate Tony and the dogs Alfie and Ludo.

This is a great trip. The galley with the aga is amazing and Steve lets you have full access to all areas. He provides welcome cups of tea throughout and you can take your own picnic aboard . The dogs are friendly too! We didn't get to go the World War 1 forts as the weather turned against us but... More

An early start due to the tide... But a wonderful 6+ hours out at seeing some of the coast & sea forts & wind farm up close!! Relaxing morning... Plenty of cuppa's... Friendly crew -lovely dogs!! I feel totally chilled after my day out No sea sickness at all-so don't worry if you suffer as in The Greta you won't!!... More

That's what it says on the T shirt my sons bought for my birthday, together with tickets to sail on Greta to the wonderful old WW2 forts some 3 miles out in the Thames Estuary. My mate and I joined this wonderful 1892 Dunkirk veteran Sailing Barge at Whitstable harbour around 8.30, . Owner/Master, Steve and his volunteer Mate made... More

Suhc a relaxing day out. Got there for 11am, parking was nearby and after a short stroll through the harbour got on board. The two resident dogs Alfie and Ludo are delightful and welcome you on board. Steve, the skipper, explains everything and does frequent tea rounds while out on the boat. It really is a calming and relaxing experience.... More

What a great day. The Guy who owns the Barge was a very friendly man, offering tea and coffee when possible. His two little dogs were a joy, well behaved and well trained. We took a pack lunch and a bottle of fizz. Oh I havent had uch a relaxing day like that for a very long time. We saw... More

IIt was a perfect day for a barge trip from Whitstable Harbour. We went out to the Wind Farm and around one of the sets of war time Forts in the estuary. It was so peaceful and quiet out there - it was a very calm day! On the return we were partly under sail and we all sat in... More

We enjoyed a lovely 6hra aboard Greta on a sunny, calm October afternoon. Steve & crew helped my 9 yr old daughter with the near Vertical ladder down the quayside to board Greta. Even though there was little wind the sails were still hoisted & we sailed for about an hour before motoring back into whitstable harbour. Steve was very... More

A strange title you might think but all will come clear. My wife and I saw that the Greta website were promoting a Thames Sailing Barge race from Whitstable, at a premium above their usual price for the trips they usually do touring the forts and wind farms in the Thames Estuary. This sounded like fun so we also invited... More
