This was a 60+ birthday present from my stepdaughter and her husband. I had a really lovely day. We motored up the Swale for 3 hours, spotting some seals on the way. turned round to sail back to Whitstable. What a difference. Engine stopped, sail up and so peaceful, with the only sound being the lapping of the waves and... More

Went for a trip on SS Greta last Saturday and had a lovely trip up the Swale to Sittingbourne area, saw some seals on the way , as every sailing trip lovely sailing with the wind but a bit breezy motoring against it. The Barge is beautifully kept and the skipper knows all the ropes. as an authentic Thames barge... More

This is an interesting boat trip on old 1892 Thames sailing barge sailing out of Whitstable, past an off shore windfarm, and out to The World War II Maunsell forts that you can see on the horizon (These can also be seen from Southend Pier) and we found it fascinating. It rained the whole 6 hours the boat was out... More

Working full time and with an Elderly Mother to help look after it was difficult to get the time off to go on this trip. Well the waiting was well worthwhile. It was a cool and slightly breezy day. There were about 9 people on board with 2 crew (The Skipper Steve Norris and his crewmate Gary). We had a... More

This barge is a very relaxing way to spend the day and seeing the ww2 forts in the middle of the sea, they are quite eerie especially when the sea is flat, grey overcast skies and the engine on the boat is off! You can only imagine what it must have been like to be based on them!!

All 12 of us had a wonderful time on the Greta,. Steve was an excellent Skipper and host. This was my Dad's 90th birthday present, and he was allowed to steer, and said that the trip had ticked all of his boxes. After a damp start we had some sunshine and a decent wind to do some good sailing. a... More

We have been out several times on Greta and have always been made really welcome. Steve is so laid back and the atmosphere on the boat is always good. Tea and coffee flows freely and I am a big fan of Alfie! Alfie is a real sea dog and a delight to travel with. Ludo is OK but Alfie is... More

Slightly apprehensive but excited to be invited for a day out on the Greta despite loving the sea. A barge would be a whole new experience. Wasn't disappointed in the least; totally chilled from the climb down the vertical ladder at low tide to board the barge through to the circling of the Red Sands Fort and back home to... More

Like having all your summer holidays in one day, good company, informative crew, views of the coast breath taking, close up view sea forts and wind farm, couple of seals and a porpoise popped up to check us out too. Left feeling calm, relaxed and sun kissed. Splendid.
