What do you do on a wet day in kent? Hop on a steam train! The journey time made up for the fairly steep price. Lovely country views including Bodiam castle filled up the time on the lengthy track. Food places could be found on the stops along the way. Enjoyed the experience enough to go on this again when... More

I came here for the first time with my partner and two friends. I am interested in heritage railways and was expecting to be impressed but was amazed by what the KESR offers, not least the Col. Stephen's Museum. Those I came with were equally impressed. The Museum is crammed with information about Col. Stephens, his family and the railway's... More

I love this railway and with the prospects of a main line connection at Robertsbridge at some point in the future, this line has a lot going for it. From Tenterden to Bodiam there's plenty to see and do at either end of the line and whilst your on the train your sure of a great day out!

amazing experience all set in the 1900's. There were guards on the trains that were always looking for little helpers! Beautiful scenery as you meander through the Kent and East Sussex countryside with lots of old crossing left there. It was all about 1900's to the 1960's. Amazing all the way through our train ride it was all amazing! a... More

Fun, interesting and a great child pleaser!!! Birthday treat for my 6 year old, who loved it...along with his 5 year old sister who was equally enchanted. We boarded at Tenterden ( free parking, onsite train museum, cafe, and various different operational trains and carriages to look at). Loved the smell of the steam engine smoke, very atmospheric and the... More

A gem of a bygone age. How a rural railway really was. No huge main line locomotives here but the real intimate local railway. The round trip journey has to be the most peaceful and relaxing in the South-East? The museum is fascinating. Food is simple honest and good value all served with a smile. Just chill out - sit... Hard to beat for a day out. Tenterden is a lovely market town and it is a pleasant drive through the countryside from whichever direction you travel. Once you arrive at the station, there is ample free parking and refreshments are available. The museum is well worth a visit and passes the time agreeably if you have a long wait... More

Five of us, 3 generations went on the railway for my nans birthday, we had afternoon tea on the train, couldnt fault them. The youngest of our group didnt drink tea so they got her a coke instead. The journey was lovely, we visited Bodium castle then travelled back first class. Was supposed to have been an extra pound each... More

Have done this trip every Christmas Eve for quite a few years. The volunteers are wonderful, they make the whole experience a pleasure. We have faced challenging weather more than once but they have managed to keep the trains running through floods and snow. Santa was a bit fast this year, wouldn't stop to pose for photos but other than... More

Best Santa experience the children have ever had. Unlimited carousel rides, authentic santa and great presents for children- spot on for ages. All with the additional magic of a steam train ride. The volunteers made it special and were happy to make it a fantastic experience. The Snow queen was lovely - though the miniature train ride was a little... More
