A fun day out with a nostalgic feel. A ride on a steam train followed by a walk to a National Trust property (Bodium Castle), followed by a return trip to Tenterden. Perfect!

The restaurant served us the most excellent lunch. Simple fayre, fabulously cooked and presented. The train ride was great fun, with wonderful views of the surrounding countryside and wildlife. Sitting in first class was the ultimate in comfort. Thank you to all for a lovely visit.

What a lovely way to travel through the countryside. I was given membership for my birthday of the wonderful K&ESR and throughly enjoyed the steam trip. All the volunteers deserve a huge pat on the back for the way they look after everything that makes this railway perfect.

This was a joy from start to finish with great homemade food, lovely wines and friendly service with the added bonus of great scenery. A credit to K&ESR.

We had a 70 Birthday evening Diner with all guest asked to arrive in evening suites and gowns . At 7 PM we had drinks and then called to the train so the train could leave at 8 PM prompt. Drinks and starters of salmon then the main of beef or turkey plus vegetables this took the time till we... More

Well at least if you are of a certain age -- the smell of oil and the sulphorus smell of coal smoke travelling in an old corridor carriage that we always had on a long trip to the summer holiday destination many visitors seem to enter into the spirit by dressing appropriately and there are a number of special theme... The station at Tenterden is a delight. It's well-kept with old posters, pretty flowers and stacks of ancient suitcases. When the trains spurt out their steam as you walk along the platform, it's easy to imagine that you're being swept back in time. We had bought sandwiches at Waitrose in Tenterden (but they also sell refreshments on the train) and... More

We did the full trip to include Bodiam Castle. Staff (many volunteers) were all helpful and friendly, especially as on this occasion we had a dog and young child - plenty of advice and assistance available. The period cafe at Tenderden station had a good range of food and drink including roast beef and turkey. On the train is a... More

Did this trip today and prebooked a ploughmans. Cannot praise the staff highly enough, especially the young lady who served us the ploughmans. Wonderful food and staff. The whole trip was beautiful to Bodiam and back. Cannot wait to try the Pullman trip the young lady recommended. Do go, it is well worth it.

....of steam trains from The Railway Children to Thomas the Tank Engine you will enjoy a trip on this dear little railway. We just went from Northiam to Bodiam and back. Northiam Station is enchanting - so nostalgic - and our short journey to Bodiam Castle (also a delight) took us through pretty Sussex countryside. We were 4 old biddies... More
