Hard to beat for a day out. Tenterden is a lovely market town and it is a pleasant drive through the countryside from whichever direction you travel. Once you arrive at the station, there is ample free parking and refreshments are available. The museum is well worth a visit and passes the time agreeably if you have a long wait... More

Five of us, 3 generations went on the railway for my nans birthday, we had afternoon tea on the train, couldnt fault them. The youngest of our group didnt drink tea so they got her a coke instead. The journey was lovely, we visited Bodium castle then travelled back first class. Was supposed to have been an extra pound each... More

Have done this trip every Christmas Eve for quite a few years. The volunteers are wonderful, they make the whole experience a pleasure. We have faced challenging weather more than once but they have managed to keep the trains running through floods and snow. Santa was a bit fast this year, wouldn't stop to pose for photos but other than... More

Best Santa experience the children have ever had. Unlimited carousel rides, authentic santa and great presents for children- spot on for ages. All with the additional magic of a steam train ride. The volunteers made it special and were happy to make it a fantastic experience. The Snow queen was lovely - though the miniature train ride was a little... More

I feel bad about this review as those who organise this are clearly volunteers and one cannot fault their patience and good humour. They do warn you to arrive at least half an hour early as the car park is frequently full. Not only was it full but it had clearly been very muddy and a car was blocking my... More

Arriving at Tenterden station it was a pleasure to find ample free parking. The sound of a steam engine is evocative and after buying a ticket at the period ticket office I moved on to the station platform , entering a world of peaceful travel. Sinking into comfortable 1950s seats I set off on a relaxing journey through delightful country... More

An absolutely brilliant day, bought for my partner. I was able to stay for the day too, I sat with one of the other wives and we were treated to a cream tea trip on the steam train, had tea and coffee all day and joined in some of the activities (looking in the signal box, riding in the steam... What a great find. We went as part of a 'drive' we were doing, they greeted us and made us feel extremely welcome. I would urge anyone to go, suitable for all ages and abilities.
