Took our train-mad 2 yr old to ride on a steam train. Started at Tenterden, travelled through Wittersham, Northiam and got off at Bodiam. Went to Bodiam Castle then got the last train back to Tenterden. The attention to 'vintage' detail is fantastic. The stations all look as they would've done back in the day (or as close to as... This was our second visit in recent months, and thanks to their free NHS staff weekend, not so hard on the wallet. Not that fussed about the diesels, and made a point of travelling to Bodiam and back on a steam train. The obviously dedicated volunteers made the experience what it is. The scenery helps too. The only markdown is... More

The train and all the staff were lovely👍 Went in 1st class on the outward journey, took champagne for birthday celebration 🍸 Well worth the extra £2 each But no such luck on the way back? A lot of noisy kids🍼😏

We took the steam train from Tenterden to Bodiam Castle on a sunny day.The ride was good and a short walk from Bodiam station took us to the castle. We had lunch and then walked the grounds with lots going on.The castle is a ruin but imposing all the same. Then back on the train to Tenterden.

Lovely evening with friends, great journey, super chips and a nice beer. A decent stop at Bodiam before heading back.

Firstly do not miss out on their excellent food offerings in the building marked refreshments, the building itself is from the 1920`s and started life as the waiting room at Maidstone bus station, the food operation denoted true professionalism on the part of those running it and the food available was not the standard run of the mill, efforts were... We have lived locally for years but have never been here. I was impressed to hear that they were offering free travel to NHS staff across the August Bank Holiday weekend, considering it is probably a busy time for KESR. We had a brilliant day. Experiencing the old fashioned railway across the beautiful Weald of Kent isn't something you get... More

Visited during their August bank holiday enhanced service. Travelled out on a Diesel railcar, which sitting at the front gave us the drivers eye view of the line; well worth it! Returned back behind a steam train. It is a little walk at Bodiam to the town, but well worth it.

I was given a "Behind the Scenes" voucher for a day on this railway. A totally brilliant day - we had an excellent guide - Jim. We saw pretty much everything - carriage and wagon workshop, the engine re-build workshops and the signalling box at Rolvenden, Lunch was served in their restaurant - the best fish and chips I have...
