We visited here for our sons first birthday and we were left very disappointed! The weather wasn't great but the whole day was disappointing. On the train was just like a usual trip like we have done before with no Thomas music playing and it was very slow and stop start. The staff at the station didn't communicate enough and... More

If you're visiting this part of the country a day using the steam railway is great for getting about, just under £50 for a family roamer ticket (and extra child) but that was for 4 adults and 5 children so all in all very good value for money. Plenty of room on the trains for buggies. Trains and stations are... More

We thoroughly enjoyed our couple of hours on the steam train from Tenterden to Bodiam and back. There was a friendly, relaxed atmosphere on the train - a mixture of older passengers reminiscing about the 'days of steam travel' and children excited about a completely different means of travel. Also, one of the key elements of an enjoyable trip on... More

We took our grandson for a trip as he is fascinated by steam engines. He really enjoyed the day, starting with having his photo taken with the station master - who kindly allowed him to wear his cap. He also made friends with the ticket inspector. Having a grandson, of course, is a great excuse for a steam train journey.... More

We had high expectations of our day out on the KESR and we weren't disappointed. There's plenty of parking at Tenterden Station but it's across the level crossing from the station, so the warning on our online booked ticket to arrive 20 minutes before departure was a sensible thing to do. There's plenty to see at the station even without... More

We were all looking forward to a steam train ride as for three members of the family this was a first. The station staff were all very helpful, polite and smart we noticed how much work had gone into the garden and props at Northiam. The steam train had however, broken down so we had to take a replacement diesel.... More

Thank you for your feedback which is always useful. We would never want any of our visitors to feel like 'second class citizens' and I'm so sorry you felt this way. On the flip side I'm really pleased you met Jess as it sounds she did everything right and her mum who also works at the Railway felt very proud... More

If you look at the website for A Day Out With Thomas you cant be blamed for thinking that what you are buying is A Day Out With Thomas. The embedded promotional youtube clip shows Thomas pulling a train, and all the wording strongly suggests you will meet Thomas. However, we didn't. We had Donald, which consisted of a black... More

Your experience clearly fell short of your expectation which we'd like to investigate further. If you would kindly send an email to enquiries@kesr.org.uk so that we can talk directly it would be much appreciated. We look forward to hearing from you. More

I was so excited about seeing and going on a steam train! They're rare to find these days! I drove up to Tenterden from Battle so that we could make the most of the journey so it took 45 minutes to get to Bodiam where as if you get on at Northiam it's only 15minutes. At the very pretty idyllic... More

One of the joys of visiting England is heritage railways and KESR is a little beauty. We visited Bodiam Castle and the local fudge at Bodiam was delicious. The staff very friendly and helpful. They have a Rover ticket which allows you to hop on and off all day.

Lovely heritage railway. Been on it twice, fantastic each time. The first trip was a meal on the Pullman, delicious food and everyone was so friendly.
