Only terrible because the boat wasn't working.!! Went to the tourist office to try and book but no luck maybe it was something to do with tides but the Lady in the office checked dates and there was nothing going that week. Never mind .

We had a wonderful time on this trip along the stour and out to see the seals. The commentary is interesting and we saw a fox, a marsh harrier, herons, egrets, curlews and oystercatchers along the way. The boat carries up to 12 people and timings can be found on the Sandwich Riverbus website. You can also charter the boat... More

Very interesting trip up the Stour for an hour at £12 per person. Not a lot to see but the "Captain" was extremely informative of the local history and will be going back in a few weeks for the longer trip to see the seals. Parking right by the quay at only 90p an hour is also very reasonable.

If you haven't ever seen Seals then this could be a perfect introduction to these gentle mammals of the sea. There are both the ginger/brown coloured Common Seals and the slightly larger grey coloured Grey Seals (no surprise in the nomenclature!). Transport: On a cloudy but otherwise comfortable June Sunday, we boarded a slow train to Ramsgate from London Bridge.... More

We boarded the boat and were immediately told by the owner that his "usual" boat had engine trouble, so we were in the old boat! And old it was! No plastic canopy or sides, no PA system, seats were just planks of wood with a cushion - 12 passengers, 4 cushions! The trip takes you out past the sewage works... More

Miserable rainy day in East Kent over Easter was transformed when we made a phonecall and found the 4 of us boarding the Sandwich River Bus Tour to see the seals. We were a little worried that we night get wet as it was overcast with rain expected but the boat had a canopy and plastic sides to keep off... More

Saw loads of seals on this fascinating tip up the river with the iconic Captain Colin. His knowledge of the surrounding area is second to none. It's can get a bit chilly so wrap up warm though !

How come, having lived all my childhood in Thanet and still returning regularly I only found out about this recently by chance? It was such a surprise and a complete delight. Captain Colin's historical, geographical and ornithological knowledge was excellent and my friend and I learned a lot about our local area. I had no idea that we had seals... More
