Encouraged by Bexhillian, below, we made a return trip to the Turner Contemporary, and loved every one of he four, no five, exhibitions. The Mondrian is a revelation to anyone interested in how style evolves, the Spencer Finch was all Bexhillian promised, and more, and I was amused and uplifted by Follow The Herring. I'm a great fan of Edmund... More

What a wonderful gallery in a great location. There were three exhibitions on, each beautifully staged. The restaurant (I can't bring myself to call it a cafe) is a brilliant place for lunch. Margate is a pretty sad place these days. The Turner Contemporary is the one exception.

Glad to have visited the Turner but found it rather limited. Mondrian exhibition was quite interesting.

We enjoyed our visit and the inside of the building. How interesting this is depends on your taste and on what is being shown when you drop by. The town itself is a bit derelict overall, though there are laudable efforts at revitalising it.

There is little to endear one to scruffy Margate which desperately needs regenerating. After all the media hype about the Turner Contemporary I had great hopes. I thought the exterior of the building was rather nondescript however, the cafe is welcoming and has good selection of food. I visited the Mondrian and Colour exhibition, although Mondrian is not one of... More

We came upon this place by accident and thought lets have a look, oh and it's free. This is not a place full of brilliant paintings and sculptures, although some of the knitted fish were quite clever. We saw a fishing boat in a knitted jumper and the paintings were mainly of the type a 3 year old may do... More

A great art gallery overall. A bit grey from the outside but once you're in the giant window over the sea makes up for it all. Personally I think they have space for more artwork than is on display but the idea of a feature piece in front of the window is a great idea. The Turner works are very... More

If you approach Margate from the East you pass a large grey building that looks as though it might be a fish processing plant. There are no signs to say that it is, in fact, an art gallery. We finally arrived outside the glass entrance door five minutes before official opening time. There was a bitter wind blowing freezing rain... More

We had a lunch and a tea in the cafe at the Turner. As the weather was so good we sat outside on the patio overlooking the bay and beach. The cafe is self serve with a good range of food and snacks on offer - impressed to see where the food is sourced and my bottled water was WaterAid....good... More

While I don't pretend to like all of the exhibitions, the Turner Contemporary has quickly become one of my favourite galleries. The setting is superb, and the colour of the building's exterior reflects the shades of the sea and sky. My latest visit was on 8 July. I was highly impressed with the Mondrian and Colour exhibition. Those who don't... More
