Favourite bay in margate

Quieter than main sands, a short stroll along the promenade is worth it. Local beach. Dogs allowed on one part and this is respected. Clean. My favourite.

The natural amenities of this bay, close to Margate main sands but retaining its own character, make it a winner. The water is clean and has recently passed tests to prove it with the bay holding onto its coveted Blue Flag status. It is the archetypical bay for family experiences, even those that necessitate a windbreak although it was 'scorchio'... More

This beach has a guard on duty which is a must with young children. Sand on the beach, it's clean and the bay is tidal. Along the promenade is a cafe which is reasonably priced selling hot and cold food. Also there are toilets in the same complex a must with young children. On the beach area near the sea... More

First time to this beach, went with 2 year old granddaughter, she loved the beach, which was clean, life guards were very visible. Beach gently sloping, suitable for young ones. Will go again. Free to park

Nice little stretch of beach just a short walk along from the main Margate sands, easily accessible. There are toilets and a cafe for tea, coffee and snacks you can also pick up buckets and spades etc. if your little ones need them. The beach is kept clean and lifeguards are in situ if anyone gets into difficulty. Quieter than... More

This is our favourite beach. There is a large sandy area which stretches between areas for people and areas where the dogs are allowed. There is a cafe for hot and cold food and drinks and toilet facilities. I haven't visited the toilets so far this year but last year they certainly needed a lick of paint. This beach allows... More

Margate main sands is a lovely beach which attracts the day trippers with its proximity to the railway station. However, just around the corner, you can get to it by walking along the prom, or there is a lot of parking spaces available above the beach. Beautiful sands, the sea comes up near the beach and when the tide turns... More

I live less than one minute's walk from Westbrook Bay and count myself very lucky indeed. The sandy beach is clean and generally free from the type of tourist rubbish that collects on Margate's main sands. The bonus for parents is that there are no swings, roundabouts or other money eating attractions. Just lovely a beach, shallow water to paddle... More
