Second, or is it now the oldest theatre in England? Small, but perfect, three tiers + boxes in a typical Georgian horseshoe shape, and a wonderful ceiling decoration above the stalls. A visit is a must for any lovers of theatre architecture.

Ab fab show last night The Red Ladies, one of the best I've seen AND I have never known the theatre so quiet throughout a performance... all began outside the theatre where The Red Ladies in their uniform attire sauntered up, down and around the streets... the atmosphere was almost eery and we the audience became more and more rapt,... Beautiful and evocative old theatre. Well worth a visit just to say you have been there and if it is a performance you enjoy then even better.

The play, For Their Own Good, was very thought provoking, but not light hearted entertainment! The theatre is very old, but was renovated a couple of hundred years ago. Very cute.

Just saw an excellent production of "Much ado about nothing" by the Globe Theatre touring company. Lots of fun and humour in a brilliantly acted and staged version of one of Shakespeare's best comedies, exploring themes still relevant today. A great little theatre staffed by people eager to help and ensure everyone has an enjoyable evening. Get there when you... More

Hi Rob Thanks for the kind words, these have certainly been passed on to the front of house team. Thrilled to hear that you enjoyed Shakespeare's Globe and we hope to have them return in 2015. There's plenty more Shakespeare coming up in 2014, do check our website for details. Regards Kyle More

Went to see Much Ado about Nothing - Globe theatre on tour. Apt theatre to hold an excellent production. Loved the fact that the theatre could do with some TLC. Atmospheric - you could go back in time and imagine the entertainment performed there.Tucked away in a residential area and surrounded by some beautiful Georgian homes. A nice theatre and... More

Atmosphere abounds in this little gem of an auditorium. A perfect pocket-sized version of an 18th century playhouses where there is always something interesting going on. Touring companies of renown or local arts groups find a welcome here. Definitely worth a visit for its architecture alone but you will probably have an entertaining show to enjoy as well.
