This was only my second visit to the Theatre Royal in Margate and I was reminded of what an absolute gem of a venue this is. I called in the day before, just to check out ticket availability (for Al Murray) and found the Box Office staff to be excellent. They identified a couple of tickets with excellent views and... Totally blown away by this amazing performance. The Countess particularly was absolutely brilliant and pianist with his dual role got my vote. Theatre scruffy from outside small and beautiful inside. How come arts council don't spend a bit of money to tart it up?

This tiny theatre in the centre of Margate is a joy to visit. It is the second oldest working theatre in the country and is beautiful inside. The outside is somewhat off- putting, but just walk in and you will receive a warm and friendly welcome. We saw the Globe production of Romeo and Juliette here and the setting and... More

Went yet again..this time to see Steeleye Span. Excellent concert. It's virtually impossible to get a bad seat and the sound is excellent too. An added bonus was that the band came round at the end so you could speak to them or take photos

I enjoy the Theatre Royal in Margate - it is old fashioned, charming and cosy. A proper Old Theatre and obviously well loved. I also enjoy Count Arthur Strong - on the radio. I should have known better, as the tellybox series did not grab me either. On the radio the flights of fantasy and obscure and belly-laughing tongue-trips and... More

Considering it's the second oldest theatre in the country still active,it should to my mind be the beneficiary of massive funding to preserve it.As it stands it is looking a little care worn with fairly uncomfortable seats but that in no way takes away from its charm. It is amazing to think of all of those who trod the boards over... The wife and i went and saw him last week and yet again it was super...we always try and book the box seats as there is slightly more leg room than the stalls and you sometimes get to shake the hands of the performers at the end...thanks John for that. Lovely quaint theatre that i hope does not close as... More

Present for Sunday's (21st Dec) performance of Beauty and the Beast. Nothing better than a traditional panto in a beautiful theatre to take you into the Christmas spirit !. It was wonderful entertainment which the whole family of 6 adults and four children (ages 6 to 12) all thoroughly enjoyed. It's a show of great fun, (and very reasonably priced)... More

originally had booked up at the winter gardens, but this theatre is part of the same group, and it was held in this theatre instead, very old theatre but has a lot of original features. it is small and made it feel more like a family day out, the actors were from the polka dot company and were excellent.
