Opening hours: 10:30am - 4:30pm Wed-Sun (final entry 3:00pm). Hever Castle is an important historic castle on the English landscape, and was once the family home of one of England's most famous Queens - Anne Boleyn, the intriguing second wife of Henry VIII and mother of Elizabeth I. The castle is a romantic double moated 13th century castle which houses historic 16th century portraits, paintings, furniture, tapestries and treasures. Comprehensive information on the history of Hever Castle can be found in the guide book and audio tours are available from the Hever Shop, Visitor Centre or Castle Entrance. Visitors can explore the magnificent gardens for all seasons which include Italian, Rose and Tudor gardens, topiary, yew maze and splashing water maze, or take a stroll around the informal areas of Sunday Walk and Anne Boleyn's Walk. Hever hosts a number of special events throughout the season including gardening events with the Head Gardener and his team. Family fun include Jousting Tournaments each summer and is one of our most popular events.

Four families arranged to take a day trip together down to Hever Castle. Expectations were high, but Hever completely exceeded all of them. For the adults: - Meticulously cared for grounds and gardens that were a pleasure to walk through. So much to see and appreciate. - Beautiful castle and detailed explanations of its development and history spanning 700 years... More

Arrived early which was great as we were first in and got to have good look round. Love all the Henry viii stuff, and it was very well set out and interesting. The staff there were pleasant and welcoming. The gardens are lovely, especially when you walk down to the lake, however It would be better to visit later in... More

This really is one of the best Castles we've visited. It is all in fantastic condition and is part of the history of one of our most famous monarchs (Henry VIII). The Maze is fun and the food was nice. Only slight downside is a slight lack of soft drinks (The Victorian Lemonade was not to my taste..)

Really enjoyed my trip to Hever, and found the tour of the castle interesting. The gardens were lovely, and plenty of grounds and mazes to explore. Would be a cracking family day out if you have children, though it would work out to be a little pricey to do the castle and grounds, but there is the option of taking... More

We had a fantastic day once again at Hever Castle. It's such a beautiful place, the castle and the grounds. Although some parts were closed such as the water maze and the boating lake we still had a great day. The castle is beautiful and its rich with information about Anne Boleyn and Henry VIII as well as the Astor... More

Ok, so I knew this was Anne Boleyn's childhood home (before that rogue Henry VIII chopped her head off and took it as his), and as such I imagined it would be fairly excellent. But as we drove through the countryside my boyfriend and I wondered where we were headed, and if in fact it was going to be some... More

If you are trying to get a feel for Tudor history then don't go to Hever, where it's more a cross between grandiose, fake- Italianate Astor and garish Disneyland. The castle is a big mish mash of centuries and has little feel of having been the family home of Anne Boleyn. The Italian garden is a vulgar showpiece for lots... More

Thank you for your review, we are sorry to hear that you were disappointed with the Tudor experience. The castle and gardens reflect the influences of the differing owners of the estate over the past 700 years, from 13th century castle, to Tudor manor house, to early 20th century family home. We strive to keep a balance between preserving and... More

We visited Hever on their first day of opening this year. The gardens were lovely and although not looking their very finest in February, were well presented and I would like to go back in the spring/summer to see them in full bloom. I can imagine that they will be most impressive. The castle itself although quite small, was interesting... More

Spent a late morning early afternoon at Hever Castle. What beautiful gardens and the castle was just as lovely too. Castle was surprisingly small for what I expected. But all the very well a beautiful laid out castle. You can understand why the place is a venue for weddings. At the entrance of the castle for a small charge there... More

Me and my boyfriend decided to go here on a day trip, an hours drive from where we live. It was a sunny day so we walked around the gardens which were beautiful! However not many signs to tell you about it so it felt a bit pointless after a while unless you're really into nature. We then went into... More
