Opening hours: 10:30am - 6:00pm daily (final entry 4:30pm). Hever Castle is an important historic castle on the English landscape, and was once the family home of one of England's most famous Queens - Anne Boleyn, the intriguing second wife of Henry VIII and mother of Elizabeth I. The castle is a romantic double moated 13th century castle which houses historic 16th century portraits, paintings, furniture, tapestries and treasures. Comprehensive information on the history of Hever Castle can be found in the guide book and audio tours are available from the Hever Shop, Visitor Centre or Castle Entrance. Visitors can explore the magnificent gardens for all seasons which include Italian, Rose and Tudor gardens, topiary, yew maze and splashing water maze, or take a stroll around the informal areas of Sunday Walk and Anne Boleyn's Walk. Hever hosts a number of special events throughout the season including gardening events with the Head Gardener and his team. Family fun include Jousting Tournaments each summer and is one of our most popular events.

Visited Hever on a sunny Bank Holiday Monday. First bad impression was getting in. At noon there were about 400 people trying to pay to enter. There were just three ticket booths operating. Net result we stood in the queue for the first 45 minutes of our visit before getting a ticket. After that long wait our grand children asked... More

The grounds are honestly spectacular. Views around the lake are amazing and the gardens are lovely to walk around. The castle looks beautiful and something out of a fairytale! Although we did not eat at the restaurant outside the castle we had a little look in and it looked and smelled wonderful (it was extremely busy! So arrive early to... More

Firstly I can't agree entirely with some of the previous reviews which state that as guests one leaves feeling little informed about the Astor or Boleyn families. The reason is simple, take the audio guide. I was group leader for a recent school visit with 40 students of mixed nationalities, never have I seen them so engaged with a historic... More

If your interest is in British History, this is a truly disappointing visit. The castle itself appears fairly authentic from the outside, but your attention is badly distracted by the early 20th century additions which you pass on the way. These are where the hotel/restaurant/wedding venue parts of the business are located. The interior of the castle was totally "made over" by... More

We got here quite late, expecting to have to rush round to see it all, but we needn't have bothered as it's not the biggest castle / gardens. The castle was nice enough, clearly laid out with enough to see in each room. It was busy (went on a Saturday so that's to be expected) but the tour was over... More

Me and my wife spent a lovely day looking around the castle and taking a stroll through the grounds. My wife espically enjoyed the gift shop we went in there 6 times. The only down side for was the cost in cafes and resturants £1.70 for a small bottle of water. But other than that amazing time had by us

This was our first visit to Hever Castle. It is very interesting, the staff were very helpful in all the rooms, very knowledge. The grounds are breathtaking. There are so many interesting parts of the gardens tucked away. We had a lovely walk around the lake. Will have to go back again to see the beautiful rose garden in full bloom,... More

We visited last weekend. I had been looking forward to returning after visiting many years ago as a teenager. We loved it. The castle and grounds are stunning. I loved the Tudor portraits and seeing what was thought to be Anne Boleyn's bedroom. It was interesting to see how Lord Astor had saved the castle. The grounds are a real... More

This is a lovely castle and the gardens are like a walk in Paradise. I think the castle itself brings history to life with the Tudor theme. Its a real gem and not too expensive to be honest and again the gardens are just beautiful and will be even better when all the flowers are in bloom. Nice staff and... More

Our first visit here although have lived nearby for years, the gardens and lake are absolutely beautiful and will be even better when all of the plants are in bloom. The weather was good which always helps and the sun shining on the sandstone walls was stunning. £16 per adult entrance fee to the grounds and the castle which we... More
