We took the grandkids who had never seen a windmill. Imagine the thrill of seeing the windmill in action. The friendly volunteers provided an excellent tour and history about the mill and workers. There are plenty of tools, working parts and original artefacts on display. It was fun climbing up the narrow stairs and imagining life of the millers, such... More

A truly fascinating trip to herne windmill. Crewed by volunteers who are passionate about this 250+/- year old windmill. A great asset which needs to be kept alive for future generations. Well worth a visit.

Pity it wasn't open. The mill is situated at the top of a housing estate in Herne. No car parking but the gate was open for us to take a closer look. A great detour from our destination, Herne Bay.

A Lovely Smock windmill, well kept and the staff were lovely! I have lived in Herne for over ten years and never visited, but glad I did eventually! Shot a small documentary on the Mill, you can find it on their website, it gives you a taster of what the place is like and the work that the friends of... More

Herne Mill is not a working mill anymore but is very nice to look round and see how things were done. It is not open all the time so check to see if it is open if your planning a visit. It does take part in the National Mill day. Part of it is currently used as a meeting room... More

I pass this everyday. Near to my home. Not many intact mills around. Can be seen some distance from the thanet way. A landmark that I never get tired of seeing, I know home is just minutes away. Open on some weekends.
