We only visited the gardens as we didn't think the kids would enjoy a tour of the house ("Not another boring country house!") We were pleasantly surprised at the size and quality of the gardens and the interest the kids showed. The maze was fun with the climb up the tower at the middle a treat. But nowhere near as... More

I loved the 'Harry potter' tree with the door inlaid. The waterfall garden is truly amazing, especially walking behind it! Lots of green space to walk in and although the castle was mainly closed at the time it is impressive to see.

We had a fabulous day in the gardens and castle. It was a fascinating tour of the castle and the history of the changes. We then went on to explore the sunken garden and peek through the waterfall, climb to the top of the tower to view the maze and then we went along the river. One of our party... More

This is well worth a visit at any time of year. The setting is stunning and there are pretty formal gardens, open spaces and some good walks. The vegetable garden is amazing in late summer showing how much can be grown and how attractive it can look. Keen gardeners will find plenty to interest them and even those without much... More

We went here twice - one day had activities like canoeing and archery that kept the kids well entertained, and the other day had animals for kids to interact with (e.g. owls, meerkats, ...) Overall this worked really well, and we happily spent quite a few hours in the sunshine with both the activities and exploring the gardens. Handily they... More

Disappointed. First complaint is that the tickets are priced Castle and Garden, or Garden only. Why not Castle only? When taking my family I resent paying £20+ extra for a garden that none of us have any interest in whatsoever. Second complaint. By their own admission, this is a privately run company, for profit, and you could feel it. £3.15... More

We had a lovely day at this castle on a Friday which meant there were lots of activities around the castle grounds. We rowed a boat on the lake, practised circus skills and had lots of fun on the swings and zip wire . The gardens were gorgeous and there was plenty of space for everyone. We were very disappointed... More

Gardens well tended and very pretty. Statues around the grounds leading to The Orangery where an excellent restaurant is housed serving a good selection of meals and delicious homemade cakes.
