We visited the Abbey Palace house as part of the visit to the National Motor Museum at Beaulieu because it's all included in the price. It is a few minutes gentle, level walk from the museum and well worth a look if you like old houses and stately homes. Part of the house is still the family home of Lord... More

a really good guide and a roaring fire in the dining hall just added to the feeling that this was a very much loved family home

The motor museum is very good but your entrance to it also gives you entrance to the rest of the Beaulieu site, including the Palace House, the ruins of the Abbey and the gardens. In my opinion though the non-museum attractions are of limited appeal. Admittedly it was March so the gardens probably weren't at their most colourful and the... More

Our Monorail has been an iconic part of the Beaulieu attraction for four decades and is a firm favourite with a great many of our visitors, providing excellent views of the Beaulieu grounds. We are sorry that you were not interested by Palace House, the home of the Montagu family since 1538. Our admission tickets include access to all of... More

We took some friends to the Motor Museum on a cold, damp day. As the entrance includes the house and abbey we went after lunch. As the Montagu's were not at home we caught a tour of their private apartments, interesting enough but the member of staff who took the tour really bought the old house alive. The best tour... More

The house was a very pleasant surprise. It was authentic as if we were in someone's full time residence rather than a tourist display (like so many other historic places we visited). The accompanying Abbey was really interesting.

Thank you for your feedback and we are pleased to read that you enjoyed your visit. Palace House is still lived in by the Montagu family, and has been the family’s home for almost 500 years. The exhibition on monastic life charts the fascinating history of Beaulieu Abbey. More

There was a vallet and maid dressed up giving information and the vallet's information on the dining hall, table and chairs and even suggested ghosts was fantastic. Such a beautiful house kept in high quality taste and style.

Nice house, but restricted to just a few rooms, a pity we could not see more of it. There were people dressed in period costume, and always looked like they were about to do something but nothing actually happened.

All of the key rooms of Palace House, including the dining rooms, drawing rooms and kitchen, are open to visitors, while special tours of the private apartments can be taken when the Montagu family is not in residence. Our guides are always on hand to tell visitors the history of this country house, while at different times of the year,... More
