not very exciting, just a couple of old rooms and a few pictures to look at, there are people dressed in period costume to welcome you and these seemed quite knowledgable about the house.

We are sorry to hear that Palace House, the historic home of the Montagu family for almost 500 years, did not interest you. All of the key rooms of the house are on display to the public, which has been preserved as it was during the Victorian era, and the majority of our visitors greatly enjoy this timeless attraction. Our... More

This is a lovely place to visit for people of all ages. It is great to see the cars driving around the site and to see people dressed in period costume. The young man riding the penny farthing was quite charming and got back on to allow us to take photographs. The children loved it as did we all.

It is great to hear that you enjoyed your visit and that our Victorian characters were able to add to your experience of Beaulieu. Along with the period decorations in Palace House, these characters help to give a taste of what Christmas was like at Beaulieu during Victorian times. Our penny-farthing rider is always a firm favourite with visitors as... More

We really enjoyed our experience at the house. The house was decorated for Christmas, there was a butler at the door to greet us with some hot punch. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. A must to see.

We were a little worried that this complex might be over-commercialised. OK, we visited on a cold December day, but we were delighted to find quiet areas to escape into and a friendly, welcoming atmosphere. The Abbey is a lovely atmospheric spot, with beautifully presented displays on monastic life. The house is at a manageable scale - interesting but not... More

We visited on 30th Dec and were impressed by the costumed characters and the warm drink we were offered to take around the house. The house was interesting and had lots of nice touches like the interpretations being written from Lord Montagu himself. It made us feel like we were having a guided tour! We bought some lovely chutneys from... More

Step back in time with these features. Try to attend one of the amusing lectures in the house. Great at Christmas with a glass of non-alcoholic ?wine.

We are pleased that you enjoyed the talks by the Victorian characters in Palace House, about life at Beaulieu during the 19th century. Visitors to our Christmas Celebrations in the house were offered a glass of hot fruit punch, which we are glad to hear you enjoyed, while the festive decorations and activities were very well received.
