We were always passing through but recently spent a couple of nights in Lyndhurst in a B&B which is an excellent stopping off point to access the forest.

There are several local walks available with extensive wildlife and beautiful scenery. Liked all available facilities. Excellent old local called the Waterloo Arms....wonderful, friendly service. The food is delicious and freshly cooked. Don't miss the specials board! The town is very friendly and everyone we met was very accomodating and kind. I personally loved the "different shops" and bought a... More

What a beautiful place in the country. Round here it is normal for street pedestrians to be donkeys and horses.

Loved - seeing the beautiful New Forest Ponies, Donkeys and the odd Pig roaming freely. The National Park is well managed, great for hiking, camping, cycling, horse riding. Great pubs, tea rooms, restaurants and lots of quaint thatched cottages? Disliked - the speed of some of the cars. The risk of accident to the ponies, the statistics of incidents and... More

Lovely part of the country which never disappoints. We visited to enable my girlfriend to fulfil a life long ambition to ride a horse western style! The forest in Spring is really great, bursting with new life and fresh smells! The ponies were everywhere and seemed really content. There are signs everywhere advising visitors not to feed them or approach... More

We camped here last year (surprisingly warm). Great cycle paths & cute traditional pubs. Watch out for New Forest ponies and other animals as they tend to just lay around the roads!

There's plenty to do for those who enjoy the outdoors. There are lots of places to hire out bikes for a cycle through the quiet country lanes past the wild ponies and sometimes donkeys. Traditional country pubs are dotted throughout in which punters can huddle up beside open fires in the winter and sit in the gardens watching cyclists and... More

If you're in the area this is a great venue for adults and children alike and it's free to walk and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. Take the dog and a picnic - you'll have a fab time.
