One of the great places to walk and explore, wander for miles, fairly level in most places, New forest ponies are a delight, pubs to visit, little towns to shop in and hotels to stay in, what is there not to like, summer or winter, its a great place to unwind. Traffic can be a big problem in the summer.you have... More

Fantastic scenery despite the weather on Sunday but didnt stop us taking in the fantastic walks. Lyndhurst is quaint but busy and very accessible to surrounding towns

Visited the new forest today with my family. The landscape is breathtakingly beautiful. There are plenty of walking routes and plenty of new forest roaming around for us to see.

The New Forest has everything for everybody. Hotels and B+Bs to campsites. It has cafes, restaurants and fine dining establishments. It has beaches, streams, woods and open land. Ponies, donkeys, cattle, deer and in September pigs. Cycle paths, walking routes, carriage and bus rides. It is interesting to follow the history of the area. There is nothing to dislike, except... I first visited the New Forest six years ago and fell in love with all it has to offer. For me it was the beauty of watching the ponies roaming free with their foals and to also get a glimpse of the deer that can be difficult to find. There are many walks through the New Forest, information on these... More

There's nothing to dislike about this tranquil area of the UK. The wild ponies were a lovely part of our forest and heathland walks.

It was not the best of weather, although it was dry, and driving around the New Forest it was easy to imagine that there was no-one else in the world. It is extremely unspoilt and very atmospheric. We did manage to have a short stroll around to see a little of the wildlife, and I think we would return.

Our hotel was in the forest so we only had to step outside the door and we were in the thick of it. I grew up near the New Forest and have always found it to be and tranquil place, it has a good feel. Have walked for miles, I never tire of it.

Had the most amazing time in the new forest, tried to do the lyndhurst parish 10 mile walk but got very lost- half the fun in walking anyway! We saw a lot of ponies, forests and deer. So amazing to see animals roaming free. So many different walks, trying a new one tomorrow. People are so friendly and regularly stopped... More
