Great area for walking (or cycling, running, horse riding, etc). A mix of heath, forest, plantations and bog - something for everyone really. There's a network of good tracks and plenty of wildlife to keep the interest levels up.

Great walks especially the tall trees and arbouritum. We were lucky enough to see several deer, one group of about 6 with magnificent antlers busily eating from a bush and didn't notice us for a few minutes before melting away into the undergrowth. This was near the tall trees junction. We also saw a doe running over open ground at... More

Even with all the gear, a winter walk in the New Forest isn't for the faint hearted. By the time we had navigated the streams, bogs and floods we had earned a beer. Even so, it is still a fantastic place to explore.

A lovely day out in the piece and quite, away from the rest of the world. We spent the day driving around to various car parks/ towns enjoying the scenery, open space and the ponies and donkeys. Enjoying brief strolls at each location. Beaulieu is picture postcard pretty. Lyndhurst has plentiful cafés and shops. And all the little car parks... More

Most people seem to stick near the car parks. Walk for 10 mins in any direction and you can persuade yourself you're in wilderness. Well not quite, but at least there aren't quite so many people.

the fresh air was very refreshing. We spent a bank holiday there and everything was quite full...and rightfully so. But plan ahead and make sure you book the tables.

The New Forest is the most wonderful places on earth, you can really get away from the modern world within a short walk. You can regularly see wild ponies and deer throughout the year, in summer adders are plentiful and easily seen. Witnessing the drift is a sight to be seen, the ponies at full gallop is amazing. Paradise.

Wonderful time everyone was super lovely and the wildlife was amazing. Must visit Bolderwood Deer Sanctuary, and must hire a bike and cycle through the forest to see the lovely wild horses and donkeys.
