Not the easiest pub to find but well worth the effort. The setting is idyllic and the ploughmans lunch excellent

Local, PROPER food! The quiche was delicious with fresh salad. Ploughman's was a cut above any I've tasted before. Food took about 10 minutes to arrive, with everything brought to the table, and that was at the tail end of a busy Sunday lunchtime. Very impressive. The pub is quite small but the garden has plenty of space.

It is about time I write a review of the Royal Oak after spending many a happy lunch hour or two and evening visiting the pub. Quite simply, this place is perfect. The location of the Royal Oak cannot be bettered if you wish to find a gem of a place in the heart of the New Forest. On a pleasant... More

Loved this pub reminded me of the pubs of my youth. Very friendly landlady and just the most delicious ploughmans we have ever tasted. Great 5 mile walk with local ale and pork pie awaiting you at the end, highly recommended.

Stopped here for lunch whilst exploring this part of the New Forest. The Ploughman is amazing as is the pork pie. The menu is limited but only uses local produce. If you are the sort of person who wants standard pub fare such as paninis and burgers you will need to go else where which would be a shame as... More

This is the first time that I have completed a Trip Advisor review so it indicates how strongly my wife and I feel about the appalling service that we received during our brief visit. Upon entering the bar we were greeted by a surly young bar maid who when asked which real ales were available, simply replied " they are... More

Myself and eight others visited this pub as one of our pub rides on a riding holiday in the New Forest. Prior to visiting the pub we rung up to make sure they would be able to accommodate for us and that we could tie up our ponies so that we could enjoy lunch. We were told that it's absolutely... More

Lovely pretty little pub with nice big garden with picnic benches, overlooking the countryside fields. Very picturesque. We visited, 2 adults, 1 teenager and 2 x 7 year old girls, when first looking at the menu I was worried the kids would have anything as there wasn't the usual kids pub choices available and no chips.....heaven forbid.....although my husband and... Beautiful sunny day and lovely walk in the new forest, topped off with a perfect simple lunch in the sun. Visited this lovely pub yesterday with family ranging from age 13 to 89. We sat in the garden in the sun and all enjoyed their fantastic simple lunches. What a brilliant idea - good quality, homemade simple food and no... More

Superb pub, well kept beer, good quality food and very friendly helpful staff. If you are walking or cycling in the Forest make sure you have lunch here. Wonderful roaring log fires in the winter.
