Went to Ordsall Hall with a baby, grandparent and husband in tow! Great little place, total surprise. Staff were friendly and helpful and the house itself is fascinating and packed with history. Beautiful gardens, great exhibits and fantastic interactive elements for older children. We will definitely return. Even better, it's free - parking is also available on the site for... More

We had an amazing trip to the hall yesterday. There were kids arts & craft activities on for £1 a child. This filled a good couple of hours and they had a ball. A very interesting place, and such enthusiastic staff. Would really recommend it! Plus yummy cakes in the cafe. Just keep an eye on the loo's please -... More

5 star attraction and believe me I am not easy to please. Visited recently during a garden party event, such the added attractions boosted the impression of this place but its a gem. Car parking on site (to be paid), lovely historic hall and café, it has great events and remember this place is free, you would not expect to... More

I first visited here last year with my 2 young children aged 3 and 6, and my sister with her 2 sons, 8 and 11. We have had many days out to various museums but had not heard of this one until last year. Its a hidden gem, in the middle of manchester where you would least expect to see... More

Arrived at Ordsall Hall as part of a school trip and I was amazed at this grand house that was in the middle of Salford in between industry and houses. The curators at the hall really set the scene and made the house come alive, and really made you realise what life would have been like in Tudor Times, we... More

What a brilliant school trip we've just had at Ordsall Hall! It's stunning to find such a beautiful piece of history in amongst the industrial buildings and modern houses of Salford. It was lovely just being in such a well restored historic building. We went as a group and were thoroughly entertained and educated throughout the day. The tour of... More

I have lived in Manchester for 60+ years, but have never been here before. It's sandwiched between industrial units and a housing estate, so it's a miracle it has survived. It has an interesting history from the 13th century, and clear and interesting information is supplied about the changes it has seen. Staff were friendly and anxious to help and... More

I organised a visit for a Local History Group in Preston and most of our members didn't know of its existence. Like some of the old National Trust properties I have visited lately, it is hard to understand how it is still here as it is surrounded by houses and industrial units and then there is this lovely old house.... An amazing and beautiful building which took us by surprise. The staff were all extremely friendly and knowledgeable. 1 of the most interesting and inspiring places we have visited so far. Highly recommend a visit to this English jewel. They do weddings and have various events throughout the year, they even allow ghost hunts. It is £2 parking but there... More
