The museum is the site in 1796 where Jenner invented a vaccination against the killer disease, Smallpox. Find out when the last case of Smallpox was in the world and how the World Health Organization helped to conquer the disease just 30 years ago. Throughout 2009/2010 we will be marking this anniversary. We also offer a Joint Ticket with our neighbour, Berkeley Castle just two minutes walk away. Between the museum and castle is also the 13th Century church where Jenner is buried.Wheel chair ramps now accessing whole of ground floor. « less

Have already reviewed this under berkeley castle. However you can just visit the jenner museum if you are pushed for time. Lots of interesting articles and in 2011 an archelogical dig also took place here. Staff are very helpful too. Do,look around the garden aswell and make sure you enter the refurbed little house at the bottom of the garden. More

Very concise. well worth taking the time to learn how Smallpox was eradicated. Very technical in places but then you have to cater for "expert" visitors More

The museum has an excellent 25 minute video detailing the life, smallpox vaccination and other interests of Jenner, with a number of rooms with plenty of information and displays. Jenner's drawing room is currently being humidified to prevent book damage, but you can see the layout through a clear windows. The "Ghost in the Attic" feature is only open on prescribed... More

I visited the Museum having been there in the past to find for 2009 they have started to restore the house to something that it might have looked like when Edward Jenner lived there. The Dining Room is now decorated a rich red and has carpet and dining room table with chairs. There were a couple of viewing panels and... More

Considering that Edward Jenner must be credited with saving more lives than anyone else (becasue of his work on vaccination against smallpox that led to all vaccinations) this house which is where it all took place is an often overlooked museum. This is where he lived and died. In the garden is the Temple of Vaccinia a rustic thatched hut... More

Went to Berkeley in Glos to see Berkeley Castle. When there was told of a ticket that combined castle and neighbouring attraction, Jenner Museum. didn't know who Jenner was until I got there. Dr Edward Jenner was first person to experiment and write up his findings on a vaccination against smallpox. It was a hideous disease and there is a... More
