A very old castle. Tours can be taken around regular times of the day. Very interesting, it has lovely rose gardens and is steeped in history. Took our time going around and listened to info given on each room. Lots of paintings and it's also associated with Whitley court in Worcester . It also has a cafe although not much... More

This is a fabulous place if you are interested in castles etc. Currently lived in by member of the Berkley family who have owned the castle since more than 800 years. How amazing is that? Toured the gardens and grounds first which are lovely, especially the terraced area and the lily pond. Had some lunch in their Yurt cafe whilst... More

It's an ok sort of place, nice but not special. Nice grounds and still in private ownership.Historic but in low key sort of way. Worthy of visiting if in the area.

Today we thought we would go and visit Berkeley Castle which is local to where were staying in Frampton on Severn. Castle very interesting and our guide was excellent, castle is still lived in by the Berkeley family. Well worth a visit and very good for younger children to learn of the history associated with both the castle and the... More

We had a good afternoon out at Berkeley, and found plenty to occupy our time. The butterfly house was interesting with some fine examples. Our visit was only marred by the cost of refreshments. Tea at £2.25 come on how much is the cost of tea in 2014, I think they are still using Tudor prices? A companion of ours... More

After spending some time in the Cotswolds, Berkeley Castle was our last stop in England and what a wonderful way to end our "trip of a lifetime." There was something different about Berkeley Castle and for me, it didn't have a "museum" feel to it, but rather felt like living history. It was easy to visualize people living and working... More

Home of the Berkeley family since God was a boy, this is the castle to visit with friends - particularly overseas visitors looking for a 'real' English castle in dream-like rural surroundings. Some 900 years of history including tales of the visit by Queen Elizabeth 1st and the imprisonment here and subsequent murder of Edward 2nd help bring mystery and... More

I strongly recommend taking one of the guided tours, which are included in the ticket price. We had a very knowledgeable and eloquent guide, the tour was a real pleasure. There are many personal touches in this castle, doubtless because the owners live in it and there is a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. I thought it was excellent value for... More

Rain, rain everywhere, but that didn't stop Berkeley Castle being a wonderful place to visit. I intend to go back on a sunny day to see the gardens - as they gave me a 'free return visit' ticket. Even without the free ticket, I'd still return. Historians - you'll love it. So much English history under one roof. Look out... More
