This old building was refurbished in 2011 and they have done a great job. Really interesting with some lovely interactive displays. Disabled friendly and very welcoming with a guide who explains a brief history of the manor/monastery as you enter. Go in the summer weekends at 3pm ish and you can also see free entertainment at the bandstand in the... More

I got married in the priory and have returned on a school trip and with my own children. Lovely place, would recommend a visit if you're in the park.

Priory park is a great place for all of the family, it has a well equipped play area for the younger ones, and it is fully fenced for there security, there is lots of room to play in open grassed areas, where you can fly your kite, have a picnic or just lounge about. There is also a well stocked... More

We married there last year and it was lovely. The place itself is good for a visit as there is historical info and it's good to look around. The cafe in the park is also great for food. The park is lovely to walk around afterwards too. The priory is well worth a visit.

The priory itself is only one of the reasons to visit Priory Park and is a must for history buffs and photographers. Entrance to the Priory is free and during the summer months there are various activities laid on inside the building, crafts, etc to keep the children amused whatever the weather. There is also an interesting, museum in the... More

I live not far from Southend and have never been to Prittlewell Priory until last weekend, what a great place to visit, added bonus is that it is free. It is situated in Priory Park, Victoria Avenue. The Priory itself is a lovely 13th Century piece of architecture which has been extended at various times but still some 13th C... More

Set in acres of parkland Prittlewell Priory is steeped in 900 years of history. Many of the old structures and beams are still in evidence despite Henry VIIIs attempts at destruction during the dissolution of the monasteries in the sixteenth century. Became a residence later on and the annual news booklet written and illustrated by the children gives a quirky... More

We decided to walk to Prittlewell Priory from the seafront. It took about 20 minutes - straight up the High Street and onto Victoria Avenue, and the park is at the bottom of the hill on the right. The Priory is the oldest continually inhabited building in Southend. It was the home of the Cluniac monks in the 13th century... More
