A great place to visit Of course it dates way back from before Henry VIII, Which being run by French Clunic monks must have made things very interesting When England was fighting the French. My first memories of the Priory were when the Church still stood next door,Removed some 50+ years ago, The building has been refurbish in part to... More

The displays have been revamped recently and give a good interpretation of its varied history latterly as a house given to the Borough almost 100 years ago. Nice cafe and beautifully kept primarily rose garden. Nice modern cafe adjacent in the park

Very nice building in a local park. This building is lovely, and sits in Priory park one of the town's best parks (I think). There are good parking facilities, and a little café on site. The Priory is accessible via the park, just along form the main car park. The setting of the building is lovely, and on a sunny... More

A group visit to a recently revamped priory which now has a purpose built visitor centre. Our guide was a fountain of knowledge and brought to life the history of the monks who lived here as well as adding a lot of information about southend. A most interesting historical visit.

Last minute decision to visit the park and Priory, free parking, and free entry (although donations are optional), stunning walled gardens and water gardens, truly stunning and well kept, signs for NO dogs but theres always one that ignores it, Inside The Priory is most interesting, lots of easy to follow info and exhibits steeped in history, you can even... Take a trip back in time walking round the old priory which contains much nteresting history. It's free and in a lovely park with cafe, tennis courts, fishing lake, children's play area, bowling green picnic areas, walled garden, lots of open spaces to play or shadey areas to chill out. There is even live music on Sunday afternoons at the... More

Visted priory on several accassions and it is kept lovely and clean with music playing in the bandstand on weekends. They have a lovely small museum which has been renovated so worth a look and they also have a nice cafe with a wide choice of snacks at cheap prices. Overall a lovely couple of hours out.

A slice of history set in a very pleasant park in Southend on Sea. A small but very interesting museum set in the remains of a priory which later became a family home. Rooms set with period furniture to give an idea of how the family lived.

This old building was refurbished in 2011 and they have done a great job. Really interesting with some lovely interactive displays. Disabled friendly and very welcoming with a guide who explains a brief history of the manor/monastery as you enter. Go in the summer weekends at 3pm ish and you can also see free entertainment at the bandstand in the... More
