I always loved this little hidden park and said if ever I get marked, I want it to be here. It was. It was the most wonderful day and the best of venues.

Loved this house. Rooms set out in different time periods (TudorStuart) and lots of history to learn. Free and nice friendly, informative staff. The gardens are lovely and the pond has several terrapins and ducks. A nice relaxing place.

What a gem set in a moat which has Terrapins , Geese, Ducks in it. The Hall is set on a mound and has been conserved well the staff were attentive and informative, the rooms have been decorated to show the Hall in different eras and uses. The gardens are well kept lovely place to visit

This hidden gem is free, easy to park and a good place to spend an hour feeding the ducks and visiting the museum. The staff are friendly and helpful.

The Museum is interesting albeit local history and with limited space may challenge the museum addicts ok for a quick fix and to interes young children. Combine the visit with feeding the ducks in the ponds around the Hall. It's walking distance to the seafront and Southchurch Park.

Yes you are absolutely right not for museum buffs. Southchurch Hall alongside Prittlewell Priory have been redisplayed in recent years and both are now essentially historic houses telling their own story. Actually Southchurch was a tennet farm for several hundred years so our knowledge is a little patchy. Our inspiration is the National Trust as Essex is a little thin... More

Peaceful location close to the town. The old timber framed house is well looked after and is free to visit which is a bargain in itself. Nice grounds and some smallish lakes which have some big fish hiding in them plus the usual ducks and even some turtles. Well worth visiting.

Found myself with a free morning and spent an hour with the paper and a coffee in the beautiful gardens only a short walk from the centre of Southend. The hall itself is a wonderful survival and well presented and it's great to see a mediaeval moated site still with the hall on the middle! With only 5 rooms to... More
