Established on the current Clacton site in 1899, and run independently by the West Cliff Trust, the West Cliff is the only surviving purpose-built theatre in Clacton, and plays host to professional touring shows and many local amateur dramatic and operatic groups, dance schools, and other youth groups. Its compact auditorium with just under 600 seats, a unique atmosphere and knowledgeable and friendly staff make it Clacton's theatre of choice for artistes and audiences alike. The Stage Door Bar is open both prior to and during the interval for each show, and provides pre-booked meals for selected shows. The lounge may be hired for private functions with or without bar and catering services.

Another great show at this lovely theatre. All are made welcome and the staff were quick and efficient seating a Full House. The acts were tuneful and lively and kept the evening going at a terrific pace with the old favourites from this great 60s era. Very enjoyable.

Visited the West Cliff to see The Basil Brush Show. Staff are so friendly and helpful. Easy to collect tickets from the box office. Ice cream sold in the interval just like it used to be at the cinema 'back in the day'. Can't praise staff enough , they could give a masterclass in customer service. love this theatre ,... More

This was a thoroughly enjoyable show with the kids loving it! The adults were taking part too, no doubt with fond memories of this hilarious foxy pal. A great afternoon was had by all at this welcoming theatre topped off with a photo with Basil at the end. Well done everyone. "Boom, Boom!"

To the two reviewers who gave such terrible reviews for the West Cliff Youth Theatre production of Grease, I would like to point out a few things. Do you have any idea of the amount of time and effort that went into the production? As show week approached, the rehearsals were nearly every day and on at least one occasion... More

Went to see Grease on saturday night with the family. We all had a great time, it was funny and all the audience seemed to really enjoy it. Think the Negative reviewers need to remember that this was a performance by AMATEUR actors in a youth group. They did the best with what they had and it was great to... More

Visiting a friend who lives near this lovely Theatre that we now visit a lot we had a fabulous time singing along with you all. This theatre does some lovely things but to give these kids the opportunity to put on such a brilliant show is just... More

We came as a large group, over 30 in total to watch the West Cliff Theatre youth group perform Grease on Saturday night. There were a variety of ages amongst us, and absolutely everyone enjoyed the show immensely. Not one complaint!! People around us were also singing, hand jiving and having a fab time too. Numerous times throughout the show,... More

This little theatre is an absolute delight, full of charm and character. I have seen several shows here in the last 9 months. All have been thoroughly enjoyable, staff friendly, sweet shop, bar, friendly staff what more can you want. Obviously very much part of the community given that local amdram, dancing, music and youth groups use the theatre for... More
