Popped to Hyde Hall on a Sunday before Christmas to get some area. Lovely gardens to take a stroll regardless of the season. Delighted to find a climbing rose that I had been looking for in the garden centre shop, well presented plants. Enjoyed cake with coffee and visited to the shop to pick up some Christmas gifts.

Hyde Hall is one of those gardens that we visit again and again. We have a yearly subscription which is by far and away the most economical way to visit if you're going more than a couple of times a year. The gardens are beautifully maintained and are a pleasure to visit. Each season has i'ts own beauty,Spring and Summer... More

A fine place to spend an afternoon. The paths wander through lovely planted areas as well as equally enjoyable wild sites, with a beautiful large pond as a centre-piece.

My wife and I are RHS members and enjoy this gardens - its not too far from chelmsford and even in the midst of winter the gardens are a welcome escape from the city. Clearly very limited in terms of plants but the grounds are still nicely laid out and the variety of walks are good. Our only issue is... More

Sorry to hear our cafe/restaurant did not live up to your expectations and I will certainly pass your comments about sandwich prices onto our catering team. While the Field Cafe does operate a self-clearing system in the Barn Restaurant tables are cleared by the waitress staff. Thus giving people the option to choose what level of service they prefer. I... More

A sunny December morning proved to be a great time to visit Hyde Hall, getting there about 10.30 (it opens at 10am) and almost having the place to ourselves for the first hour or so. The camelias were out and winter colours from things like dogwood and late flowering penstemon looked impressive. There's always something new to see at Hyde Hall.... More

Being open all year round it does give gardeners and non-gardeners alike the opportunity to see the changing seasons and discover what plants you can use to add colour and structure in your own garden. However, as you say, some days in winter can be quite bracing, so a warm coat is a must! More

I think we are in 2014! Amazed to find no gluten free food in the Restaurant only offered some Pre packed ginger nut buscuits. Come on RHS sort this out.

While most of our hot food options can be easily adapted, you're right, that there is room for improvement when it comes to our range of gluten-free snacks. We are aware of the situation and hope to provide a greater choice in the near future. More

My wife has rhs membership and we are local so visit here many times throughout the year. It is a great relaxing place and there are many new things to see each time you come not only because of the seasons but also due to the fact that there is heavy investment on improvements and growth. There are two locations... More

I live near here and being a member of the Royal horticultural Society I am keen to go when I can. Its been revamped over the years I have been going and the 'new' entrance with shop and cafe is very inviting with a good selection in both. The gardens are well cared for and there is again a lot... We live near to Hyde Hall, so can visit regularly, which we have done since pre-RHS days. Every time we come, it seems that there is something new and exciting to see. We are so very, very lucky to be enjoying and sharing the development of what will be a truly amazing national garden.
