Just visited the garden from Saxmundham. Haven't been for about four years but well worth the 150mile round trip! The garden is constantly evolving and is really wonderful especially if you are a keen gardener. We walk around armed with pen and paper to write down names of plants that we would like to buy! I think a few weeks... More

Whether you are a keen gardener, or simply like a good walk in pleasant surroundings, Hyde Hall makes a very good day out. Lovely flower beds, changing throughout the year, mean there is always plenty to see. Good food, either snacks or full meals, available from the cafeteria at the entrance and the restaurant in the garden.

This is 'my local' RHS garden, and I've been many times. There's always something new to see, ideas to get, and (almost always) new plants to buy. It's a lovely place to stroll around. It can get a bit busy on weekends and bank holidays and when they have special events, but there's plenty of space away from the main... More

Thank you for your kind words about the garden, it's nice to know that you visit regularly. Sorry to hear that you feel the salads in the restaurant are sometimes a bit too cold, normally they made to order, but occasionally during busier periods they may be prepared and chilled. More

We visited with friends who are RHS members. We aren't so paid £8 pp which I think is reasonable for an afternoon out. You can join and off set this cost but you'd need to visit four times for it to be worthwhile. We took a picnic with us and had a lovely afternoon relaxing in the grounds. It's a... More

Nice but Difficult to walk from the bottom where you enter to the top of the hill where the best parts of the gardens are. Make sure you either take your own wheel chair or try to hire one. Very expensive to eat and drink. Plants were expensive and on the day we went looked dreadful. Look, see, buy else... More

Visited the gardens with friends (from Ipswich, Pitsea and SWF), all of us like gardening. Not being members entrance was £7.95 for the day, could be offset against cost of membership (so free entry with a plus one in future).Received map and had thoroughly enjoyable day. Was surprised to see so many families with children there - but lots of... More

Thanks for your review - it certainly sounds like you had a nice day out at Hyde Hall. It's great that you picked up on the fact that we encourage visitors to walk barefoot on the Hilltop Garden lawn! Sorry to hear some of the plants you were interested in didn't have plant labels - we endeavour to tag the... More

We went on the day of the flower show & they had lots of stalls selling lots of different plants, but I found the prices rather high for bog standard herbaceous plants. We had a lovely hot day & actually it was a bit too hot to walk around all the stalls & found it quite tiring. There were a few stalls who... So nice to hear you found the gardens at Hyde Hall so beautiful, it's been a great summer and to have the rose garden looking and smelling so nice in August is an added bonus. Sorry to hear that you day was somewhat spoilt by noisy children - some of our younger visitors do get a bit excited on occasions! More

A beautiful tranquil place to enjoy some open space. Even with two young boys, it is a great place to go as they love the freedom of running through the rose garden and climbing the new tree house

Thanks for your kind comments. We certainly do have a lots of open space (and stunning views) at Hyde Hall and it's amazing how content children can be when running up the hills and rolling back down! More
