Visited on a warm Sunday in September. Welcomed by friendly NT trustees. Asked if we wanted to wait for a tour, but decided to look around ourselves. Well signposted throughout the house with interesting chequered past documented in each room. Some rooms a little confused perhaps due to the shared use with Barking Council for meetings? Finished with a cream... More

I was lucky enough to visit during Open House Weekend, when the entry fee of £4 was waived (so it wasn't going to break the bank anyway). I also went when there was an architectural tour - I don't know whether this normally happens, but there is a leaflet about the house on sale for £1, which I would fully... More

'Infoseek UK''s comment about it 'being surrounded by council houses' and that it 'felt like it did not fit in' reminds me of the well-known story of a (foreign) tourist at the centuries-old Windsor Castle who, inconvenienced by the noise of airliners overhead, asked an attendant 'Why did they have to build the castle so close to the airport?'...! On... More

When going to grand houses, usually it's in a remote area, with large garden and usually in a nice area. When I went to Eastbury Manor House it seem like it was surrounded by council houses (sorry not trying to be rude), it really felt like it did not fit in and the garden was not that big so could... I visited with 2 small children, 4 and 6. The 6 year old had been doing the Tudors at school and I was looking for something local and relevant. We are National Trust members, and as it was easily accessible by public transport I decided it would be a good half term outing. I expected the bus/tube combo to be... More

I grew up around this great place as a child everybody used to say it was haunted, but we still played in the grounds, now they have spooky nights where you can walk around the house and meet new people even though you can't see them.I have attended a wedding in the house which is a lovely experience and a beautiful backdrop... have attend a could of conferences here and the facilities are good, but it's worth remembering that this is more about the history than a top notch all singing and dancing venue. Facilities are good but the cafe has a very milked offer if you're expecting a wide range of snacks etc., staff are very helpful and supportive. I've been... More

Visited this National trust property located near Barking. We were lucky to have the house to ourselves and were shown around by Pat the guide. He was so knowledgeable and brought the house alive with his account of the history of the house and the area. Very nice tea rooms and garden to sit and relax if the sun is... More

I visited Eastbury Manor House as part of the London Open House weekend and found it very interesting. There are lots of clear descriptions in each room, so it is easy to understand the history. I was lucky enough to be there on a day when tours were given and Doug, our guide was excellent. He kept things simple but... More

Eastbury Manor was very nice but could do with some furniture to make it more interesting. There is information boards but these do not add atmosphere. However tea room very good and staff very helpfull
