Eastbury Manor was very nice but could do with some furniture to make it more interesting. There is information boards but these do not add atmosphere. However tea room very good and staff very helpfull

We've been meaning to visit this national trust property for sometime and it was really lovely. We were lucky to have a beautiful day and so we could sit in the courtyard garden to enjoy our homemade sandwiches and cream tea. It was quite a busy day there with a school visit and a conference group there and that was... More

Last came here about 3 years ago with my daughter- but she still talks about it. The ladies that ran a craft event here for the kids during the summer holidays were brilliant. All the craft stuff was provided and you got help as you needed it. The grounds and house itself is lovely- worth a visit Ive seen themed... More

Went to see a very interesting play and exhibition at Eastbury Manor House called `Barkings War`. The play was not done on a stage, but instead was interactive with the Audience. The whole of Eastbury Manor was used, with the story line being it was set up as a hospital for solders returning injured both Mentally and Physically from the... More

As National Trust members a friend and myself paid a visit to Eastbury Manor House on a Friday when it is normally closed (we hadn't realized that!). It turned out to be a happy oversight because they were still kind enough to admit us and we were treated to an in depth tour by tour guide Colin. He was so... More

This is a large Elizabethan house with the exterior almost entirely as it was when built. This alone makes the house worth visiting. The interior is architecturally less interesting because few original features remain and it is largely empty, but the spiral staircase is original and there are interesting wall paintings in one 'chamber'. There are good explanations of the... More

An Elizabethan manor house in the middle of a council estate. The is very attractive from the outside (though heavily restored in the 19th century) but is quite empty and uninteresting on the inside.

This is a lovely building. When you arrive at Upney Tube Station you find a direction sign for this house. We went when there was a special Tudor weekend. We were given a guided tour & the staff knew everything. My friends have actually visited since & also enjoyed the house.

We took the tube to Upney and walked through a housing estate onto a fantastic sight. The brickwork and design of the building is amazing. The history of the house is brilliantly described in every room. The tapestry above the big fireplace shows a Tudor scene which enables you to imagine what it was like in Tudor times. The view from the window... I used to live directly behind Eastbury house from 1962 until I married in 1966. The view form my front door was exactly 180 degrees from the photo above. At that time it was in a poor state of repair and was not generally open to the public except by special arrangement, but it was not really worth visiting. My... More
