Over the past few years the brewery has undergone a complete refurbishment with the replacement of the brewstream being the most recent update. This state-of-the-art installation recovers 100% of the heat and steam from each brew, 90% of which is used to reheat the next. This reduces the amount of gas needed during the brewing process by 30%.The new system can also brew larger batches in less time, making more efficient use of raw materials. It is also very efficient in water usage with a ratio of 3.2 pints of water to every pint of beer, compared to the industry average of 8. It even cleans itself and we’re trying to programme it to make the tea too. But don’t just take our word for it, book a tour, come and meet one of the brewery team and see it all for yourself. « less

Thoroughly recommend you take this tour. Although a lot of the processes are now done by computers it is fascinating to see a modern 'small' brewery in operation. The guide was very informative and liked to talk as well as answer questions. It didn't hurt that there was a tasting session at the end when you could taste any of... More

An interesting mix of an old building with a modern brewery inside. Interesting even to non-drinkers. You also get the opportunity to sample the produce afterwards!

This was a simple but fantastic value tour. The guide was funny and informative, and we were able to taste the different grains that were used to make the beers, which was interesting. After learning about the process and being shown around we were able to taste 4 different beers - not just little thimblefuls but a decent amount! Then... More

Both tours were excellent but if you only have time for one do the Distillery and ask for Tracey - fabulous knowledge, great timing and never boring! I am a fan already of the worlds best vodka and gin however I have an even greater appreciation of the process which delivers my favourite tipple! Teetotal? Not a problem you will... More

As with some other breweries it's fair to say that the actual tour is more like a factory tour than a true brewery tour. Adnams is a good brewer and I thoroughly enjoy their beers. Unfortunately to keep up volume, profit and comply with current legislation all the brewing is done by computer and is more or less totally automatic.... More

Bob, our tour guide was fantastic. Friendly, knowledgeable and very funny. The tours only have approximately 12 people, so you don't feel crammed. However this is an hour of standing, walking and stairs, so not suitable for absolutely everyone. The tasting lasted about half an hour and was introduced as 'drink as much as you like... but don't take that... More

my freind and I got into big trouble last week. Told the family the tour was at 4pm . it actually started at 4.30pm so time for a couple of pints first without the children. The tour was fascinating and the tour guide knowledgable. We then tasted nearly everything the brewery brews in big glasses, went to the shop and... More

Was a good experience. Found out lots about the whole process and also got to taste lots of what they produce. We were also offered wine tasting back in the shop afterwards which we jumped at. You then get a discount voucher for the shop. Good value for money.
