Description: Behind the walls of our Victorian building in the heart of Southwold sits...
Behind the walls of our Victorian building in the heart of Southwold sits one of the most modern breweries in the UK. Over the past few years the brewery has undergone a complete refurbishment with the replacement of the brewstream being the most recent update. This state-of-the-art installation recovers 100% of the heat and steam from each brew, 90% of which is used to reheat the next. This reduces the amount of gas needed during the brewing process by 30%.The new system can also brew larger batches in less time, making more efficient use of raw materials. It is also very efficient in water usage with a ratio of 3.2 pints of water to every pint of beer, compared to the industry average of 8. It even cleans itself and we’re trying to programme it to make the tea too. But don’t just take our word for it, book a tour, come and meet one of the brewery team and see it all for yourself.

Great tour and good value for money in my opinion. £12 each and the tour lasted around 2 hours. Bring sensible flat shoes for the walking around the tour and it's a very well explained tour giving you a step by step explanation on how the beer is brewed. My only feedback would be that when you come to the... More

... who did the tour in July 2014 and enjoyed it very much. We were back in Southwold last week and his beer of choice was 'Fat Sprat' and I can tell you that the Adnams gin is really 'First Rate'! :)

Great tour of a well run family business producing great beers - and in such a lovely town - the Adnams ethos is great. The tour was a perfect blend of being informative whilst providing enough time for tasting! We had an excellent tour guide who was actually a manager in one of their hotels in the town. Would happily... More

I did this tour as part of a Southwold coach trip with a group of friends. We all live on the other side of Suffolk. I love real ale and I'm quite partial to Adnams. The good thing about the Adnams brewery (from the educational aspect), is its in a selection of old buildings in a traditional Suffolk town but... More

I was surprised at how interesting this tour was, and this was largely due to the excellent service given us by Dan. He certainly knew his subject and his added enthusiasm and humour was a bonus, I would recommend this tour to anyone, not just for beer lovers, as the company also produce an award winning vodka, a gin and... Went with some chums when camping (with families!). Can't remember too much as we got hammered in the Nelson afterwards. Must've been good, as we've booked it again this year!

Despite living not far from here, and being a fan of their beer, I'd never done the tour. Clearly I'd been missing out. Our guide was not the most knowledgeable in terms of facts and stats but did bring it to life with anecdotes, good explanations and general overall knowledge. First you spend ~1hr doing the tour, then off to... More

Excellent tour of the brewery and distillery, knowledgable guides and a fine tasting session. Theyreally didn't scrimp on the samples. Plus you get a free beer in the shop and a 10% off voucher. Highly recommend.

We were bought vouchers to visit the brewery and distillery by a friend, finally managed to arrange visit 13.4.2015. A really good day out the tour guides Bob and another lady (sorry forgot name) were excellent and very knowledgeable all the staff were polite and appeared to be happy. We went to Adnams Cellar and Kitchen where we had a... More
