Behind the walls of our Victorian building in the heart of Southwold sits...

Behind the walls of our Victorian building in the heart of Southwold sits one of the most modern breweries in the UK. Over the past few years the brewery has undergone a complete refurbishment with the replacement of the brewstream being the most recent update. This state-of-the-art installation recovers 100% of the heat and steam from each brew, 90% of which is used to reheat the next. This reduces the amount of gas needed during the brewing process by 30%.The new system can also brew larger batches in less time, making more efficient use of raw materials. It is also very efficient in water usage with a ratio of 3.2 pints of water to every pint of beer, compared to the industry average of 8. It even cleans itself and we're trying to programme it to make the tea too. But don't just take our word for it, book a tour, come and meet one of the brewery team and see it all for yourself. Please book ahead online for by calling our booking line to avoid disappointment.

Brewery tour shows all aspects of Adnams brewing. The pots and pans and the raw materials. The smells and tastes of brewing. Interesting history. At the end there's the opportunity to taste the beer. We tasted five I think. Just tasters but interesting variety and nice finish. We were then taken to the Adnams cafe and shop where we tasted... More

We really enjoyed our tour through Adnams Brewery. Sue, our guide, was very knowledgable and a good speaker. She has worked for the brewery for a long time and really knows what she is talking about. She made all the technical stuff easy to understand and answered all our questions. You do visit a work place, so if you can,... More

Loved the history bit about Southwold. Very good informative tour and lots of tasting available at the end. Tour guide was very good. Ended up in the shop after tasting their vodka and gins.

Having heard good things from friends about the tour, I booked one for my wife as part of a Christmas present. I have to say, Adnams certainly delivered an amazing time. We were booked on the morning tour, the tour guide had really in depth knowledge of not just Adnams but the whole alcohol industry. The tour covered many of... More

I visited this tour in 2009 and it was much better this time around. The tour guide was very good, she gave us the basic information without over loading the group with facts or information. The tap room has been seriously updated with great art work and a chart of what is currently brewing, the alcohol percentage and the ingredients.... More

Having gone on a number of brewery trips - this one rates among the best. The tour guide was informative, clearly passionate about the brewery and very approachable. The brewery has a commendable commitment to recycling and renewable energy and a focus on quality which is reflected in their beers, gin, vodka and other products.

Our guide, Tracy, was knowledgeable and very informative. The history is fascinating. The hour and a half went in a flash. So much more to the brewing process than I imagined. We had the opportunity to smell and taste the different hops which flavour the beer and at the tasting at the end put our knowledge into practice! Tracy also... More

We obtained 2 tickets for this tour via a charity auction and decided to finally make a booking. Parking nearby is possible but nothing official related to the site. The history of the company and its activities over the years is very interesting and the pre-tour video helps to put it all in context. The smells and atmosphere as you... More

We've been on a few brewery tours but this was the most interesting so far. The guide was very well informed, and her presentation humorous and engaging. The tasting at the end was not only of a variety of beers, but also spirits, and the tour included a voucher for a beer and discount at the excellent shop. Highly recommended.
