Description: Behind the walls of our Victorian building in the heart of Southwold sits...
Behind the walls of our Victorian building in the heart of Southwold sits one of the most modern breweries in the UK. Over the past few years the brewery has undergone a complete refurbishment with the replacement of the brewstream being the most recent update. This state-of-the-art installation recovers 100% of the heat and steam from each brew, 90% of which is used to reheat the next. This reduces the amount of gas needed during the brewing process by 30%.The new system can also brew larger batches in less time, making more efficient use of raw materials. It is also very efficient in water usage with a ratio of 3.2 pints of water to every pint of beer, compared to the industry average of 8. It even cleans itself and we're trying to programme it to make the tea too. But don't just take our word for it, book a tour, come and meet one of the brewery team and see it all for yourself. Please book ahead online for by calling our booking line to avoid disappointment.

The tour itself was informative although I felt the history element wasn't brilliantly presented and its a shame that the video at the start was clearly dated. I loved going into the brewery and looking at the processes. However my big complaint is that on my confirmation it clearly said the tour was approx. 1 hour with then 20 mins... More

Brewery tours can be hard work. Often with too many sandals and beards in attendance, they have a propensity to follow a set formula of un-stimulating 'education' and turgid commentary about the history of the brewery. Fortunately, the same cannot be said for the Adnams brewery tour. Our guide, Ross, gave us the antithesis of the experience described above, treating... More

Very good guide who was informative and entertaining. We did the 11 clock tour which was really good. It is a shame I can't remember the guide's name. Lots of beers to try at the end. Very impressed with the samples of vodka and gin at the end of the brewery tour. Well worth the money.

We've been visiting Southwold for years and last month we decided to arrange a brewery tour as we've been sampling Adnams long enough! Our tour guide, Ross, was brilliant! He was very informative, passionate about the brewery and hilarious! He explained the brewing process in great deal and it's clear that he knows his stuff. It's great to be able... More

We had a Distillery and a Brewery visit as part of a present, both were very good, but I would suggest just the Brewery and perhaps the Distillery another time, both samplings at the end of the tour were extremely generous. We arrived 15 mins prior to the distillery tour, we then had a look around the small museum like... More

We visited Adnams brewery on their guided tour this Wednesday afternoon. Our guide was helpful, informative and very knowledgeable. Being a real ale fan it was very enjoyable to see this ultra modern brewery in action and the sampling room at the end of the tour was especially welcome. Hat's off to Adnams for making the most of their opportunity... More

Even my real ale drinking husband found this disappointing. Yes, the guide was extremely knowledgeable but because we booked for 3pm, there was nothing actually being brewed, so only the receptacles to look at. At the end we were offered tastings of 4 beers. My husband would have preferred tiny samples of a larger selection of ales. We have been... More

We booked the tour online for £12pp and arrived 15 mins prior to the tour starting time to be greeted by our tour guide, Ross. The tour was interesting, initially learning about how the beers are made before making our way round and seeing where the beer is produced. The tour concludes with a tasting session. I was impressed by... More

Very interesting tour of the brewery and processes involved together with an insight into the history of Adnams. I thought at £12 including a take away bottle of beer and the inclusive beer and spirit tasting session was also very reasonably priced. Worth a visit!

I recently went on a brewery tour with my mother, while in the area. I found the tour very interesting and we learnt a lot. Maggie the tour guide was brilliant. It was good to sample a few beers and spirits. Well worth a visit if you're in this lovely town/village.
