Owner description: Behind the walls of our Victorian building in the heart of Southwold sits one of the most modern breweries in the UK. Over the past few years the brewery has undergone a complete refurbishment with the replacement of the brewstream being the most recent update. This state-of-the-art installation recovers 100% of the heat and steam from each brew, 90% of which is used to reheat the next. This reduces the amount of gas needed during the brewing process by 30%.The new system can also brew larger batches in less time, making more efficient use of raw materials. It is also very efficient in water usage with a ratio of 3.2 pints of water to every pint of beer, compared to the industry average of 8. It even cleans itself and we’re trying to programme it to make the tea too. But don’t just take our word for it, book a tour, come and meet one of the brewery team and see it all for yourself.

Booked several weeks ahead, taken around by very pleasant lady guide. Lots of information and brewing equipment to see and because of the small party it was easy to ask questions. As described by another reviewer it was tricky to find the starting point for the tour. Plenty of samples to try at the end of the tour.

Disappointing given the cost of the tour. It was £12.00 per person and the tastings were limited. I have tasted better beer and spirits. We did a wine tasting for half the price and had far more tastings.

A full, interesting and well-paced tour of a working brewery. Our guide - Jane Leonard - was excellent, as were the beers at the tasting session. If you are arriving by car, allow sufficient time before the start to find somewhere to park. Note, too that the starting point for the tour isn't immediately apparent - at least it wasn't... More

Booked the day before, and only six of us on the tour. Very well informed guide took us from building to building. Got to taste several ales and a lager in the tasting room, and as there was only six of us we had a spirits tasting in the main shop as well. You get a voucher for a free... More

Very informative and enlightening. Just helps you understand why Adnams are so proud of their beer, and why it tastes so good!

We booked a weekend in Southwold so we could do the brewery tour and not worry about driving home. The guide was very informative and interesting and clearly enjoyed working for Adnams. We tasted many different beers and then went to the shop and tasted some spirits. Finished off with lunch in the cafe. All in all a very enjoyable... More

Tour was a Christmas present from my Daughter who likes ale so she joined me. Interesting insight into how Adnams do it as apposed to other breweries with a knowledgeable & witty guide. Highly automated now so a lot of the process is hidden, but plenty to see and if you go into the fermentation room, plenty to smell. Nice... More

Both myself and my husband enjoyed the Adnams beer tour. The guide was really good, she knew her beers and made the tour very interesting. We couldn't go into the fermenting room as the carbon dioxide levels were too high but this did not stop the tour from being worthwhile. In the refurbished tasting room lots of beers were available... More

A friend booked this for us when we visited the area. A great and informative tour ( a really good guide who works in finance during the week!), with some excellent beer and spirit sampling at the end! Great fun and good value for money. The cafe in the Adnams shop is also worth a visit and the end of... More

This was a birthday treat for my Husband and he was thoroughly pleased. It was a very interesting and informative, our tour guide knew her subject and she was able to answer any questions my husband asked. This was on Saturday 17th Jan 11.00 am. Would recommend to anyone, the tasting is interesting and a surprise. Do visit the shop... More
