This pier has everything - a quirky clock, some great amusements (Under the pier show) plus good places to eat and drink. It also serves as the best sun trap in the town. Unlike many piers, this is not an excuse for visitors to spend their money on rubbish.

The pier is steeped in history with brass plaques all the way along. It really is beautiful just to walk along

Our first place to visit, a fantastic view back across the beach, shops with pretty items and some more unique exhibits. I especially liked the plaques all around the edge.

The pier is wonderful, took our elderly parents there yesterday, it's great to walk down the pier, there are some nice little shops and cafe's along the way. There's a very quirky clock on the pier which is very amusing ! Oh and nice chips at the cafe at the entrance to the pier, plenty of benches to sit on... More

Loved the pier...retro style...we had had lunch but a couple of great looking places and really enjoyed the under the pier show. Ice-creams from the gift shop were a little sweet though.

We visited the pier on a couple of occasion whilst in Southwold. It has some nice coffe shops and a very unusual under the pier show. Very relaxing time spent just sitting and watching the world go by.

We've been going to Southwold Pier for years. Lovely place. Love reading the brass plaques. A couple of eating places with the cafe offering lighter bites. Amusements are something different. Wish the water clock was telling the correct time. The shops appear to have moved away from selling the work of local artists which is a bit of a shame.

There was a time when a pier like this was the height of sophistication, a pinnacle of engineering, an exotic technological marvel. You could lean against the railings and make believe that you were on a fabulous cruise to parts foreign where the sun never set on the British Empire. Those would be the Victorian times, when you travelled to... More
