I loved it. We know it quite well. We went in what felt like a force 9 gale, with large sea swell. So best to do it when it isn't so windy or wet, no real shelter. The shows are amazing, see reviews for under the pier show!

I agree with the above reviews. We know the Pier and Southwold very well, through visiting my wife's sister, who has just moved there. There is something "magical" about the place. I don't know what. Ha! We often walk our dogs on the permitted parts of the beach and then, suitably envigorated, go for a sandwich and coffee. Not very... More

Open all year, except Christmas day, several shops and cafe/restaurants, plus entertainment. Good views of the town and coast, both north and south.

Same about the service in the restaurant. The staff walked around with their eyes on th floor. The food was good when it arrived.

Thank you for taking the time to write your review about your recent visit. It is always helpful to receive feedback from our guests in order that we may improve the service we offer. I certainly would not want this to be your lasting impression of The Boardwalk Restaurant and I invite you to discuss your experience in a little... More

Free to enter, this is not the longest pier around about id worth a stroll to the end. A few shops and cafes add to the experience, and even in bad weather, it is well supported.

Southwold pier is...well you just have to go really. The Under the Pier Show is indescribable...but I'll try. Imagine you are in a universe where amusement arcades are designed by a comittee of Spike Milligan, Steve Bell and Professor Brainstorm. As I say, you just have to go. There are some nice gift shops and some cute cafes too as... More

Ok, that is probably true but I can't say for sure as I haven't visited all of them. Having visited a number of seaside resorts though, this has to rank as one of the most eccentric and bohemian you will find. My partner and me spent ages amongst the collection of oddities, enjoyed visiting its extraordinairy shops and savoured the... More

The pier is attractive, but you MUST go to the "Under the Pier show" it's stuffed with old-style arcade machines, though they're all new & bizarre! Tim Hunkin has created an incredible selection of mechanical automation coin-operated machines, with a real funny/offbeat/macabre twist, all based on his love of the Victorian automatons of old (anyone remember the Laughing Policeman machine... Enjoyed the nostalgia.Reminded us of piers visited as a child. Not so keen that it reminded me how old I am.!
