We went here today with the dog, we had a lovely day, beautiful peaceful walks, lovely photo opportunities, nice clean toilets , plenty of places for picnics and relaxing, the only downfall was is that there is no bins for litter and the forest is not very well signposted , if your rubbish with maps ... U may get lost... More

After years of visiting Hamsterly with children for walks and loving it I now enjoy going to ride the mountain bike trails! It's a beautiful forest! The forest cafe is reasonably priced and great for a well earned put stop! If you enjoy mountain biking this forest is a must!

I visited Hamsterley Forest for a walk with the family and was disgusted by the large amounts of dog dirt that we had to avoid along the Riverside footpath and Gruffalo trail. A friend has informed me that it is all over the cycle tracks as well. According to dog walkers there are no bins for dog waste and therefore... More

First time I've been to Hamsterley Forest since being on a school trip as a kid. What a calming and tranquil pleasure it was. Took the 6 yr old boy and my wife, parked the car in one of the numerous fields and walked to a picnic area where we could just relax and take in the sounds and woodland... More

What a great place to ride. The only down side are the minority of miserable walkers who think that they should have the right to every single path in the land. I personally think there is enough room in our beautiful countryside for everyone. I try to show everyone i meet with respect. I slow down on my bike and... More

We lonely live about 18 miles away from Hamsterley Forest yet I have never been. Yesterday 10 May 2014 my husband and I visited. Slightly disappointed that you have to pay so much to park but understand that the Forestry Commission need to make money. My husband used to be a regular at Hamsterley with his mountain bike and was... More

We went to hamsterley on a bank holiday Monday hoping for a nice walk through the woods. What we got was a £5 car parking fee ( Hiked up from the usual £3 for the bank holiday) and basically a huge Car park. It became obvious they were cramming as many cars in as physically possible when we had to... More

It is 5 years since I last visited this forest and how saddened I was to witness the stealthy urbanization which continues to happen year on year caused by general public misuse and ignorance on the part of the Forestry Commission who are suposed to be in charge of this former gem. Unfortunately it appears that the thrill seekers have... More

We haven't been to the forest for ages and glad we decided to return. When we got there we were surprised to fine that the cost of parking had increased as it was bank holiday so it cost £5 instead of £3. The forest is great for walks and there are plenty to choose from. We found there was no... More
