The service was so slow and staff not informative at all. Don't tell you you have to order your food at bar, after them passing our table numerous times I had to ask if we ordered food at the bar, which they replied 'yes'. So frustrating as we'd sat there for about 20 mins. One dish we ordered was totally... More

We go here a couple of times a year. Myself, Wife, 2 year old and dog. The walks are excellent especially when the weather is nice, I love the new Guffalo additions. There are plenty of swings etc for the kids. I would say get there early enough to get a good parking space.

We visited this area to hike and exercise our dog, we chose the longest walk about 4.5 miles, it was described as moderate in difficulty and for most of it, it was ,however there were some challenging downhill descents. The walk took you through forest, along forestry lanes and alongside small rivers, stunning countryside. The cost of this most enjoyable... More

Whether you want to cycle, mountain bike, walk or just have a pleasant drive Hamsterley Forest delivers. When we visited in August it was not busy but even at busier times I can imagine that the forest just absorbs the crowds.

A good forest for walking and mountain biking. The cafe serves local food at reasonable prices, and it seems like there has been recent and in my opinion successful investment in new facilities.

Being from Wolsingham, i've grown up going to Hamsterley Forest for 23 years. It's impossible to say that it isn't an amazing place, the nature is absolutely amazing. There is a kids play area that has been expanded since I was younger and plenty of things to see / walks to go on. It is free to enter and you... More

Been here previously and decided to visit again. As a family with an older teen (17) and a younger child who doesn't like walking (11) and 2 dogs it is a great day out!!! We did the gruffalo trail ( for myself!!) And continued onto one of the longer walks, very relaxing if not a little hard on the calves!!!... More

We recently had a family day out at Hamsterley Forest where my two year old was able to go Gruffalo hunting whilst my daughters rode there bikes through the forest. It is a lovely place to get the kids outdoors and enjoying themselves. Start at the cafe where you can get a map showing where the Gruffalo trail is. We... More

Wonderful place to visit, lots of walks varying in difficulty level. Great for dogs, plenty of space to be away from it all. Excellent outdoor play area in forest for children. Gruffalo trail, a bit disappointing. Staff in cafe could do with greeting customers with a smile, were a bit miserable the day we went and didn't make us feel... More
