Visited Hamsterly on the 26/10/14 with my fiancee after reading trip adviser decided to do the orange walk. when we arrived i had a look at the notice board to see which route the orange walk took but could only see mountain bike routes. we headed to the bridge at the corner of the car park and noticed the orange... Another brilliant day at Hamsterley Forest. We enjoy the walking - shame we are too old for the mountain biking, the routes look really exciting for the young in heart. The Autumn colours are beginning to show through creating beautiful views. And not forgetting the excellent cafe for a lunch time snack before we begin the walk and a cuppa... More

Good bike trails well routed and expected facilities for MTB, great single tracks and knarly descents. Good paths onto the moors

We arrived at the car park and as we got out of the car, I just exclaimed "wow!". We were surrounded by such natural beauty and it was stunning! My husband and I decided to do the orange trail and it was a great walk to do. It was very well sign-posted and about 4.5 miles long. It took us... More

We spent Sunday afternoon at Hamsterley Forest, following the Gruffalo Trail with our two children 5 and 1 yrs old. Being a last minute decision we didn't take our own food, this was our first mistake. I'd read there was a cafe so we headed there. Service was fast, kiddies packed lunches were ok (though not very healthy. Sandwich, chocolate... More

The service was so slow and staff not informative at all. Don't tell you you have to order your food at bar, after them passing our table numerous times I had to ask if we ordered food at the bar, which they replied 'yes'. So frustrating as we'd sat there for about 20 mins. One dish we ordered was totally... More

We go here a couple of times a year. Myself, Wife, 2 year old and dog. The walks are excellent especially when the weather is nice, I love the new Guffalo additions. There are plenty of swings etc for the kids. I would say get there early enough to get a good parking space.

We visited this area to hike and exercise our dog, we chose the longest walk about 4.5 miles, it was described as moderate in difficulty and for most of it, it was ,however there were some challenging downhill descents. The walk took you through forest, along forestry lanes and alongside small rivers, stunning countryside. The cost of this most enjoyable... More
