During our Shillong trip, we stayed at upper Shillong for three days at our family friend's quarter based on Eastern Indian Air Force Campus & as the sweet, mysterious, most popular water falls located in upper Shillong area so we reached there after few minutes drive. Elephant Falls is characterized by clear water falling over rocks with no particular forms. The falls... More

Tucked, in, nice and cozy, though you have to climb down a large number of steps. Not a very graet waterfall, but a nice picnic spot, and get the kids in the Khasi costumes. It is a hoot.

The state tourism board has done a good job and the area around the waterfalls and the steps leading to the waterfall are well constructed and maintained. The only disappointment is there are too many shops selling junk food that may cause accumulation of litter.

This is a small fall routinely in the sight seeing circuit of local tour operators but not really worth the time and drive as there are many other grand falls worth their name and effort. There is nothing even remotely resembling an elephant, wonder how the Englishman managed to see one, thus the name!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

half an hour from shillong city, elephanta falls lies along the way to cherapunji. Originally it was called 3-satge falls due to its structure, while brtish change the name to elephanta falls due to its resemblance with elephant trunk. Shillong is must-go place in north-east.

Shillong is the capital of Meghalaya state, India. It is situated at an average altitude of about 5000 feet above sea level. Elephant falls are about 12 km from Shillong. These falls come from three directions and to-gather give a beautiful view. Not very high falls, but very thick during rainy season. Covered by large trees all around, the place... More

We visited in May.. which is dry season. So did not see the falls in their true majesty. But it does sound exciting to imagine the falls in full force. There are steps that lead all the way from the top to the bottom of the falls. There is a bridge mid way which crosses the falls. I can imagine... More
